Sorry it has taken me super long to respond to these, I have been unusually busy. It also took a while to listen to all of these! A lot of these are repeats, but I am listening to them again because I've become much less picky with my music taste in the past ~2 months.
I didn't like Octopus by Gentle Giant I was in-between on Godbluff by Van Der Graaf Generator I liked Tarkus by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer Thanks for the suggestions! I will make sure to listen to godbluff a couple more times because I think I will like it if I listen to it a couple more times
I didn't like Octopus by Gentle Giant. I gave it a second listen and I still don't like it, sorry. Thanks for the suggestion.
I liked To Watch Storms by Steve Hackett A lot I liked Halloween by Pulsar I didn't like You by Gong I liked Moonmadness by Camel I liked Close to the Edge by Yes (and it only took me 4 months!) I didn't like Martian Chronicles by Solaris I really like Meddle by Pink Floyd. I just listened to it yesterday! I didn't like Merlin by Halloween I didn't like The Power And The Glory by Gentle Giant Thanks for the suggestions. Didn't expect to like moonmadness or close to the edge because I didn't like them in the past.
I liked Opus One by Greylevel I didn't like The Black Hole by Hamadryad I didn't like Incura by Incura I didn't like Have a Seat by Inner Odyssey I didn't like Grey White Silver Yellow & Gold by Karcius I liked Falling Through Rainbows by Rick Miller a lot I didn't like Black Science by Machines Dream I was in-between on Redemption by Mystery I was in-between on Generation 13 by Saga I really didn't like Devin Townsend Thanks for the recommendations! Sorry that I didn't like most of them.
I was in-between on Maps by Message to Bears I was also in-between on We're Here Because We're Here by Anathema Thanks for the recommendations. |

I liked "Islands" by King Crimson I didn't like "A Farewell to Kings" by Rush I liked "Lady of the Dancing Water" (and the album Lizard as a whole) by King Crimson I didn't like "The kick inside" by Kate Bush I honestly expected this thread to die off, but I am happy to have recommendations. I haven't really listened to jazz to know if I would like it. I've always been a rock person, even before I found prog rock. Thanks for the recommendations! |

It seems you like the calmer stuff. Perhaps you'd enjoy King Crimson's Islands, or A Farewell To Kings by Rush (although the latter is more of a mixture between heavy songs and quiet songs). There is a trio of quiet, soothing KC songs that I believe have been called "the three lullabies" (after the line from The Court of the Crimson King) (though I may be completely wrong about what songs that phrase refers to in the fandom): I Talk To The Wind, Cadence and Cascade, and Lady Of The Dancing Water. Since you've heard and liked the first two, why not try the third? It's off Crimson's third album, Lizard, which is one of my favorites of theirs. The rest of the album is pretty similar in style to the first two, albeit with more jazz. What's your opinion on jazz? When I was obsessed with Rush I knew this guy who was super into jazz and constantly trying to get me into King Crimson because he thought it'd be a gateway drug or something, I don't know, I'm still not too well-versed in jazz. And in a desperate attempt to get this post back on track, I will suggest The Kick Inside by Kate Bush.

Oldfield is a talented one-man band, he recorded his debut album, Tubular Bells at 19, and it went to number one. He's got many classic albums, a bit of folk, prog, even some hints of blues and canter berry scene. He's got lots of great albums, his early stuff is mainly instrumental. So to Start off with, i'd recommend his debut, Tubular Bells, Ommadawn, and Hergest Ridge. He released an album in the 90s called 'Amarok' one continuous peice of exactly 60 minutes, the story behind that is amazing.
So, to summarize, Tubular Bells, Ommadawn, and Amarok

If you want to further explore the symphonic part of prog, I would recommend:
Collegium Musicum, from former Czechoslovakia Jon Lord's Concerto for Group and Orchestra
