We are proud to announce that progressive rock/metal band Hourglass is back with new material. We’ve just released a brand new song titled “Void Within”. The song is truly epic, clocking in at 25 minutes. The song will be part of our upcoming album titled “Voids and Visions”.
We are very excited about the sonic landscapes Void Within delves into. If you listen carefully there are musical homages paid to some of our favorite prog influences sprinkled intricately throughout the track. What really sets Void Within apart from past albums is the use of vintage synthesizers which colors the moods and vibes of each section. The band is comprised of band founder and guitarist Brick Williams, longtime drummer John Dunston, synth player Eric Robertson, who fans will know from the band’s “Subconscious” album, new bassist Brian Hancock, and Yahosh Bonner, who joins the band on vocals. The song was a long time in the making. Writing on it began shortly after the bands last album titled “Oblivious to the Obvious”. Brick had most of the song structure and arrangement written when Brian joined the band and contributed several new sections that were added to the song. The individual members of the band decided that it would be best if each of them had their own home studios to initiate the recording process and the obtaining of the appropriate gear and recording equipment was begun. The recording process included 4 new songs, all epic in length, that the forthcoming album will be comprised of. The band is based out of Utah, with drummer John Dunston residing in California. The song was mixed and mastered at Eric Robertson’s Pleasant Pictures studio. Hourglass is pleased to present you new music and hope you will enjoy “Void Within”. Please let us know what you think of our new song! We would love to hear your thoughts.
