For the most part I enjoyed this collection of songs but I definitely preferred "The Gentle" selections to "The Storm" selections. One things for certain, you surely get your moneys worth with the amount of music here, so much so that it can get a bit wearing listening to the whole thing in one go and I found the vocals got a bit piercing after a while, but I still think this is worth a solid 3.5 ranking.
That sounds fair. You may have missed what I wrote about The Gentle Storm back on Page 5.....

"Arjen Anthony Lucassen & Anneke van Giersbergen get together in this unique one-off album project, which consists of two completely different versions of the same eleven songs on the album. Disc One features the gentler, folkier side of The Gentle Storm and Disc Two features  the stormier Progressive and Symphonic Metal versions of the same songs. Hence the title: The Gentle Storm. " Smile

If you want to feature those earlier bands here then be my guest, but my primary focus was the Ayreon era (1994-2020), so you could say this thread's title should be The Theory of (Almost) Everything. Wink

Oops.. I apologise for not reading your list properly.. Embarrassed

I saw SoP headline the Dames Of Darkness Festival in 2014, during their double headline European tour with Xandria, then when they decided to split up, they did a Farewell tour with a set of over 2 hours at the Robin. They were excellent live. As I said, I also saw Anneke do the Gentle Storm thing and afterwards with her other band, Vuur... she's an excellent front-woman.. Clap

Having featured all of Arjen Anthony Lucassen's related albums (apart from those earlier albums that Cristi mentioned) it's finally time for me to put this thread to bed with a nice warm blanket and a wonderous bedtime story. Smile

I began this tribute to Arjen Anthony Lucassen and Ayreon with The Final Experiment album, and now, having realised an Actual Fantasy exactly four months and 26 albums later,
it's time for the final album....

Get ready to Embrace the Storm of Progressive Metal coming your way because this is the debut album by Stream of Passion and their only album to feature Arjen Anthony Lucassen.
I hope you like it, Wherever You Are in the world. Hug

Arjen Anthony Lucassen & Anneke van Giersbergen get together in this unique one-off album project, which consists of two completely different versions of the same eleven songs on the album. Disc One features the gentler, folkier side of The Gentle Storm and Disc Two features  the stormier Progressive and Symphonic Metal versions of the same songs. Hence the title: The Gentle Storm.  Smile</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>

I do like this but I wanted it to be better….

Guilt Machine:- More Heavy Metal mayhem from Arjen Anthony Lucassen in this one-album side-project, recorded in-between recording sessions for albums by Ayreon & Star One.

Ambeon: an impressive one-off album project from Arjen Anthony Lucassen in which the songs of Ayreon are given a dramatic re-working, just like the song below, which sounds like something Tangerine Dream might have recorded  back in their heyday. Smile
