Some explanation as to "southern", because of the inclusion of British, Canadian and blue-collar New Jerseyians muddied the water. Does for instance Tony Joe White,  Govt Mule, Stray Dog, Marshall Tucker Band, Outlaws, Molly Hatchett  and (the Allman's precursor ) Hourglass fit into this scheme of things?
