Peter Gabriel - Vocals, Flute, Oboe, Show
Steve Hackett - Guitar, Vocals
Lupo (Grobschnitt) - Guitar, Vocals
Jonas Reingold - Bass
Eroc (Grobschnitt) - Drums
I don't know who to put behind the keyboards, perhaps Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman? There are too many good keyboarders out there...

Why??... Carl had already left Arthur Brown with Vincent Crane and formed Atomic Rooster. AR already had out an album... if anyone, Vincent Crane was the one who got screwed...

Hello, I'm new, blah blah blah....
Ultimate supergroup, eh?
Vocals: Annie Haslam. Just Annie Haslam, thank you very much.
Guitar: Martin Barre. He's a good all-rounder - not too virtuso-y, but capable of a smashing solo!
Keys: Kerry Minnear. Never an unnecessary note. (And he could play vibes/xylophone!)
Bass/vocals: Chris Squire. Obviously.
Sax/flute: Didier Malherbe.
Drums: Bill Bruford.
Percussion/things: Hasse Bruinisson.
I'd also expect some session players for the odd bit of cello, mandolin, accordian etc.
How's that for a balanced line-up then?

Yeh, that was the rumor... but actually they only spoke to Mitch Mitchellr regarding the open drummer position... but decided on Carl Palmer instead... lucky them!!

They could use Roger Waters' idea from The Wall tours of building a big brick wall in front of the stage to block the performers. That would probably be the only way anyone could survive sitting through their live show.

That's why I said almost, UK is a great example of that, but even if people believe I'm crazy, I like "Danger Money"more than UK's self titled album.

The biggest problem with MVP was Allan and Frank never actually played together in the same room. Gambale completed the whole project with holes for Allan to fill. Too sterile. True improvisation needs a live setting.
The same goes for the Stu Hamm project. If Satch and Holdsy played together in the same room, we may have heard something completely different. Of course, I thought the tune itself was meagor.

However, I largely support of your case. I once asked Allan Holdsworth for a radio interview, whether he would consider working with Metheny or MclLaughlin, and got the terse reply: such musicians will either inhibit each other, because they don't want to show each other up OR they are trying to outdo each other and something gets lost. The best example in my mind of this is Holdsworth playing with Joe Satriani on the title track of Stu Hamm's Radio Free Albumuth - they neutralised each other, and so made the worse record of either guitarists' career (IMHO). I think Truth In Shredding with Holdsworth with Gambale illustrated this too - as did the Metheny/Scofield and Abercrombie/Scofield album projects. However, some bass duos work - check out Rob Wasserman's Trios - perhaps bass players know how to both play lead and backing rhythm?
