Yeah sure In the Land.... is a perfect example of a great album with one silly little track. But I don't think that's relevant for the perfection of say... Génération Sans Futur, Rock Bottom, You, First Utterance, Don Cherry/Brown Rice, Out to Lunch, Crossings, Trans Europa Express, Mark of the Mole, Third, Docteur Faust, Univers Zéro, Mirage, Phaedra mm... - none of which could or should be bettered (imo:).

This suddenly showed up again. The more I think about it, the stronger I disagree (with Sean, not myself). To me not using the top rating for "the best" equals not using the lowest rating for an abomination of an album - because no matter how horrid, it could logically have sounded even worse.

I recently updated mine, my average is now 9.70, closer to the middle of the pack. I'll probably continue to tweak over the upcoming months.

OK, there is a Gnosis mistake on the first and second Pererin albums (80 & 81 respectively) and noted there as 79 & 81.  (just like there is one for Eskaton's 4 Vision)

This means the Pererin debut did not appear on my 79 (too many excellent albums for a short list) or 80 list.
I now corrected and Haul Ar Yr Eira is the 80 list - which has a smaller list.

Will listen to Teithgan ASAP, to see if it deserves inclusion on the 81 list.

EDIT: just updated the list Thumbs Up

I have no problem extending the "classic" tag to album that I grade as 11 Wink

Ian knows where those grades are coming from (the 14 to 10 grades) and in some ways, he's right: I am a tough rater.EmbarrassedWink
For the second Pererin, I rated it 9, but I'll check it out again to see if I should reconsider.

I've never used the 15 (prefection doesn't exist) and out of the 7400 albums rated, I've used the 14 grade only 14 times and grade 13 only 100 times. Grade 12, I used it 370 times and grade 11 some 870 times.

Just like here in PA, I start rating there from the middle value (here it should be 2.5, but I default at 2 or 3 *) and over there the bulk of my ratings are 10, 9 & 8 (a lot of 7 & 11 as well) over there. 6400 of 7400 ratings are between 11 and 7... and I think it should be lower, but I can't be bothered rating artistes I don't like much unless they come in the updates.

==========

It's all there in the stats section, Ian.  You can check anyone's stats in the project.

For ex, I see that you've played the game fully by rating (or refused to) rate) everything the database (unlike Zappathrusta). You're one of the rare to have done so.  But my average rating is less than 9 (second or third lowest on the project), wheras you're at 10.20.
