Hi,

I was thinking of a film Godard did, but don't remember its name. He had a building cut up, and it was open on the camera side and the whole film was inside that building, and its many tenants and folks. But it's all I remember. The lack of locations, and the need to save some money, would be something that Godard could have worked with a lot, as his budget for many films was in the toilet in the first place, and you could tell that he did not give a damn, and would just about let the dogs loose and have fun while at it!

Not sure that "one location" is a nice choice, but films like "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" for me makes it. All of it in one little spot somewhere!

But, honestly, I can not really remember any right off the moment, as this has never been an important consideration for me.

Ohh yeah ... the two films about that guy that was in Vietnam and did two sit down things about it. Spalding Grey and his stories are far out and crazy as heck!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Another movie I liked very much, "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972).

Well, that's something of a coincidence considering my avatar.

'coincidence'?! Wink

Not sure if it was intentional on your end since I already had posted in this topic, but I fell for Wicker Man (where I get my avatar from) and Logan’s Run (where I get my username from) long before knowing that, at least.   Also wondering if it’s something of a coincidence-like thing that I mentioned My Dinner with Andre in my first post and the OP’s last post simply said My Dinner with Andre. Of course that fits the topic, but like with yours, I wondered if it was deliberately referential to my presence in some way (maybe subliminal, maybe deliberate, maybe coincidence, maybe I’m overvaluing my presence).      Ah, the little mysteries of the self-conscious pattern-seeking animal...

Except for the beginning, Tarantino's Hateful Eight takes place in one location.

Closet Land comes to mind. It's been a long time since I saw it but it think it takes place exclusively in an interrogation room & a few scenes in the imagination of the woman being interrogated.

The episode "Die Musik stirbt zuletzt" ("The Music Dies Last") of the German TV crime series "Tatort", which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and has over thousands episodes meanwhile (each one of full movie length), was filmed in one shot. They even managed to do a flashback in time in that episode by opening a door to a room in which the events of an earlier time happened.

Two versions were shot of this episode, one in German, the other in Schwyzerdütsch, a Swiss dialect of German; the episode took part in Lucerne. "Tatort" is a German/Swiss/Austrian cooperation. The episodes are located in several cities, mostly German, but some in Switzerland and Austria too. Each city has its own cop team.

If you are curious about this episode: There is a video on YouTube showing both versions at the same time in a part screen. The left half and left speaker are in Schwyzerdütsch, the right half and right speaker in German. Of course the visual parts are not exactly identical either because the movie was shot twice. By switching off one speaker you can decide which audio you want.

The episode also occasionally breaks the fourth wall and has one of the characters talking directly to the viewer.

I don't think so. Multiple Scenes on Earth, as well as multiple space craft doesn't seem to fit the criteria. A great movie that I really like BTW.

Would Silent Running qualify?
I seem to remember it all taking place on the ship.

^ I liked Das Boot a lot too. I actually watched lots of one-location films. Most of them are not worthy of mentioning though. Fun to watch, that's all.

∆∆ can't speak for other submarine films, but with Das Boot, which is one of my favourite films (saw it in theatrical release), while most of that takes place in submarine, there are various other locations, including that amazing ending.

The conversational My Dinner With Andre comes to mind.

I did see (and like) "Dogville" because of the set (and the writing), and I remember a friend mentioning "Cube" right after it came out, but I just never got around to seeing it. I'm going to search for it later. Cheers!
