I generally dislike the term 'pop' in relation to music as it is so vague and ill-defined, and I tend to avoid using it at all, unless it is part of the name of a specific sub-genre of popular music, such as my beloved 'Dream Pop'.

I wouldn't worry about this. Peter Hammill claims his music is "pop", and compared to him many prog artists are pop.

It will be the only vote it gets, but it is deserved. And, yes, I think it probably is their best and most accomplished work. The previous album showed hints of the full grandeur the band might be capable of, and definitely the beginnings of a different direction for the band, but I’m not sure anyone could have expected Diorama. The thing is, by the time Diorama was released, the image of Silverchair being young grunge wannabes was so entrenched, I suspect many people who might enjoy Diorama will never have even heard of it, let alone listened to it. If this had been their debut album, I wouldn’t have been surprised if someone had attempted to have Silverchair included in PA! 😄 |

XTC and Beatles are tied for me but voted XTC. Close behind are Cocteau Twins, Nick Drake, Beach Boys....

How cool it is that Diorama got its vote. I figured it would go unnoticed on this poll. It is such a great album. And yes. Easily the band's best. |

It was between Cocteau Twins, Talking Heads, Nick Drake, Beck and Stevie Wonder. Voted for the latter
