let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

Unfortunately MarcIsCringe posted the once to make the topic and then seems to have not been interested enough to engage thereafter.
I take issue with faith, and the notion of a God that would require faith to believe in it and that would desire both faith and worship. I love this Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy quote about the Babel fish on God and faith:

^Hey, we're getting somewhere here. Certainly farther than we were getting discussing whether or not "Jethro tull is the most anti-religious, religious."

I also wasn't speaking in terms of light, which I do see as white being a combo o all color on the spectrum.
Darkness (black) is the absence of light itself. |

I was going on face value...not what he may have meant. White is the absence of all color (can't mix colors to make white), black is the absorption/combination all colors. |

I think he means black is the result of the total absorption of light, white is total reflection.

Sorry, but that's nonsense. When you declare something to be non-existent you have to have a definition of it, else the statement is totally meaningless. "I have no idea what a wildebeest is, but it does not exist" simply doesn't work. Vampires and werewolves have clear definitions. With the Loch Ness monster it is different; the descriptions vary a lot; the best definition for it is "giant creature of unknown species that lives in Loch Ness". But that's still a definition. I have a definition for God that is actually scientific. My definition has to do with consciousness and where it comes from. By the way: I highly recommend to read Raymond Smullyan's "Is God a Taoist?" It is absolute fascinating reading.

Hi, I was about to say ... the music died in this conversation ... wish the admins would lock it, since it is a dead end, and no one can agree on anything, least of which is the very different takes on it all. That said, for me, things like MAGMA are actually very religious, but we don't think of it that way. It is, at least, spiritual.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I thought that was for pigments. Like if you look at a pigment wheel, magenta, cyan, and yellow together make white. I thought for colors it was the other way around, where black was the combination, and white the absence. I might be wrong. But I do remember combining all paints in art class in elementary school and getting a brownish black. Anywaaaaaaaay... Aqualung...

Oh, it made me laugh. Also because it shows a lack of understanding what post-modernism is about (confounding it with idealism - as in philosophy). But I must admit that the use and abuse of that notion can go any which way whoever wants it to go - but that's a topic for another thread. Is that post-modernist enough?

Interesting being lectured to by Grumpyprogfan imploring tolerance (watch and learn pilgrim) These religious themed threads invariably invite completely unwelcome pseudo intellectual Derridian bollocks and spiritual hippy cosmiche w**k. Not all the posts are like this and not all posters need this explained to them.
