Panzerballett by a wide margin. Great cover and video is clever. Next Howe, then Mastodon.

hard to pick a favorite from them...
Big Fire really gets my blood pumping.. so if John and Dave held a gun to my head.. I'd have to pick that. but my favorite album was their last. so many good memories of seeing them the night they imploded as group on stage.. stripper poles, smoking dope with Potter.. and yes.. BROASTED CHICKEN!!!

This is a favorite of theirs of mine. It is based on an episode of the Twilight Zone. There used to be a video of the music playing on top of the episode, but I didn't find that.

^^ I didn't know Shadow Circus at all, but I almost voted for Then in July, the Thunder Came... until Stefanovski and S.M.V. came by... But this track makes me curious to listen to more of them! (isn't this exactly why these polls are so good?!)

damn right... you rock darling... and yeah... can't wait for that album. I always thought they were one of the best, and most underrated, of the modern American bands. Anything they did.. even polka.. would be great to hear. |

I posted the link to this thread on John's FB page. I'm sure he'll be glad to know their music hasn't been forgotten.

That is exciting news. I thought that Shadow Circus was no more. A new album from them is definitely sometihng to look forward to.

I really appreciate the inclusion of a Shadow Circus track in this poll. John and Dave will be chuffed to bits. Obviously, I voted for it - with the Amon Düül II song as a runner-up. Scott, you'll probably be glad to hear that their new album should be out soon, and that's going to be very metal! Thin Lizzy would also be one of my choices if it was included in the poll, though "Thunder and Lightning" is not my favourite song on their eponymous album.

It definitely is a great playlist! Thanks for putting it up, Scott. This time I'm actually favouring the more jazzy outfits: - Karn/Bozzio/Torn; this one is from the only album I have from this list - a great album overall. - Vlatko Stefanovski Trio; I definitely have to check out this album, this is a fantastic track! - S.M.V.; pretty cool discovery for me too! Very nice going through this list (although I have to admit that I skipped through some of the more metally thingies...). Keep them coming!

Now I want to listen to "Thunder and Lightning" by one of my favorite comedy bands, Ninja Sex Party.

Thin Lizzy's last album is really good, if you have not listened to the whole thing, you should.

Nevermind. Just listened to Thunder and Lightning on Spotify. I hadn't heard that song before. Almost sounds like something out of the Motorhead catalogue.

Chicago is listed here on PA....not for this song obviously. I only have a couple of Thin Lizzy albums and none of the songs had Thunder in their title, so I don't know to which song you are referring.

I think this is a pretty fun playlist. 25 different interpretations of thunder. The last song from S.M.V. was a pretty cool discovery for me. For those that don't know, The Wishing Tree is a Steve Rothery side project. I believe that the song from Vlatko Stefanovski Trio includes Jan Akkerman on guitar. Not to mention, that Phil Collins guy used to be the drummer for Genesis back during their prog period.
