"Useless" if you don't have a 5.1 surround sound system..."freaking amazing" if you do. It's the main reason I buy these editions. You hear things on the 5.1 that you did not pick up in stereo and adds a new, refreshing take on all of Tull's albums. Worth every cent and Wilson has done a brilliant job on all of these editions.

^ All Warthur's reviews of these Deluxe JT boxes in my opinion miss 2 very important points:
1. The quality of multichannel remixes, which are excellent (for example, in case of "War Child" lots of sounds, lost in stereo mix, are clearly audible and give music additional dimension and quality). 2. Informative books, accompanying releases. Actually each of them describes in details the corresponding part of the band's history. |

Live tracks checked out. They really pay off IMO (if you enjoy this particular JT line-up, of course).

I was going to give this box set a miss, despite enjoying the previous three from the classic folk trilogy period - but the lure of the Slipstream live material was too strong.

True, if you don't have surround system. Otherwise these DVDs are probably the best feature of the 40th anniversary editions. Multichannel mixes give excellent listening experience, you can clearly hear lots of sounds and even instruments lost in stereo mixes.

Like most of the 40th anniversay editions, the audio only DVDs are useless and only add to the price, making them not worth the price charged

Nice. I don't know that album, but it might be interesting to hear what that line-up did with the classics from the 70's. |

"A" was initially intended by Anderson as a solo album, but the label insisted in the use of the JT trademark. |

And is he featured in the live tracks, or only on the original studio album? |

As far as I know, it's the only JT album with Jobson's violin on board, and that is added value, to say the least... |

A is a strange one - the classic Tull sound transformed into the '80s with only Ian and Martin still hanging around.....though not a great fan of the LP, this reissue is interesting for the video of the 1980 LA show and the old Slipstream video that we all used to have on VHS.
