Indeed, it's a beautiful (and powerful) piece. I hope to see a live rendition of it by Kansas' current lineup.

Also worth mentioning from the excellent album 'Freaks' are the powerful rocker 'Black Fathom Four' and the majestic ' Hope Once Again'.

They're incredibly consistent. However Carry On Wayward Son, cliche as it might be, is a timeless classic and radio staple for a reason. Just a notch above the rest of their work for me. The tier below that includes Closet Chronicles, Portrait (He Knew), Song For America, Magnum Opus, Miracles Out Of Nowhere, Can I Tell You, and Icarus.

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Rainmaker. The Pinnacle, Dust in the Wind, Bells of St James, Cheyenne Anthem and Miracles out of Nowhere are some others that are up there.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who likes Dust in the Wind, unlike SteveG, who likes any song but Dust in the Wind.

Dust in the Wind. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that I'm the only one here to choose that Kansas song as my favourite.

For me, no question: The Wall.
Moved me to tears from the get go, and can still have that effect on me to this day. The lyrics are so poignant and insightful: I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall And with each passing day I feel a little more like something dear was lost It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between All I am and all that I would ever want to be Classic. Genius. Edited by Cylli Kat (0fficial) - May 27 2021 at 10:32 |

"Can I Tell You"
Yeah, it's not that proggy but it kicks off the debut album perfectly. And that debut still ranks as my all time favorite American record.

Sure, Leftoverture is their best known album, but "Cheyenne Anthem" doesn't get enough love.
The best song from that album is arguably "Miracles Out of Nowhere," too. Easily one of my favorites. |

I hope people forgot Lamplight Symphony only because there are too many good songs to remember. This one is my favorite off of Song for America. I especially love the piano and violin duet, and at the very end of the song with the big organ chord.
