Hm... My favourite 1986 album would probably be The Wedge by Pallas... From this list, back in 1986, I would have chosen Yngwie Malmsteen's Trilogy (although then and now I prefer his Rising Force album) and even today it is still by moments an amazing listen, but competing with Talk Talk... Malmsteen it is, today (but tomorrow...?).

Candlemass is one of the best heavy/doom bands ever. Crimson Glory and Heir Apparent are examples of early progressive metal. Heir Apparent came back with an excellent album a couple of years ago. I don't think they deserve any mocking.

I don't have a clue by what you mean mocking......Please explain how I am mocking Heir Apparent Confused

1986 is pretty modern considering the music that gets discussed the most in these forums is from the 70's.

I like what I am hearing from Candlemass.   Being they are from Sweden, I thought they were more of a black metal band with the guttural screaming that I don't like about a lot of modern metal.  This is good.  Reminds me a bit of Annihilator.

That's another three bands I'd never heard of, until now. Embarrassed

well, this is no surprise, I wasn't expecting you to know these to be honest. No offense.
I wasn't thinking of you when I wrote that.
Those are three bands that I'm not really familiar with.  I think I tried Crimson Glory once, but can't remember now.

I imagine you'd like all three of them.
Surprised you don't know Candlemass. Confused
Checked my iTunes, I have 3 songs from Candlemass from a Metal Blade 25th Anniversary Box Set.  I will check them out.  I have two songs from Crimson Glory in my collection, but nothing from Heir Apparent.

I pretty much love anything Leif Edling is in, or has/had involvement in, so Candlemass is definitely fine with me. That would probably be my second choice after Queensryche.

(Perhaps strangely, the one album of Leif’s I’m well aware of not having listened to is his solo album. But I love Krux, Avatarium and The Doomsday Kingdom. If it’s true that Leif has ME, and it would explain his withdrawal and absence, that’s a really sad thing. It’s such a hideous condition. I have two friends that suffer from it, and I wouldn’t wish their suffering on anyone.)
