i really look forward to a new Camel album, they are a band that rarely dissapoints and i consider their latest album to be very good.

If i had to define Camel with one word it would be Consistency, the only low pint for me its the single Factor.

For example Bubu  took almost 40 years to release a new album, so i dont lose hope that Camel release a new album.

And guys relax a bit and dont be so solemn, we can talk about new bands and old bands, progresive rock and other arts forms will not dissapear from what we talk about in music forum

I think I can speak for everyone, as well as myself, and confirm that we do enjoy other bands.

Patently "proglodyte" behavior. Maybe it's time for a break from the computer, mosh. LOL

Is there anything more pointless than writing a posting in a thread that says "we should not discuss this"?

(Probably just one thing: A posting complaining about another posting that says "we should not discuss this". Wink)

I didn't get that specifically from his post.

Too often he's accusing the rest of us that we don't have the ear to appreciate music or new music, which is not the case. Rather arrogant and belittling if you ask me.

Hi,

I think you are taking this "personally", and it is not meant to.

The idea is that what started as progressive some 50 years ago, was that it was all NEW and DIFFERENT ... and a lot of the posts and comments here are not "new" and are not "different" and I have serious doubts when I see stuff like this, that we will, FIND NEW MUSIC, because we are strictly attuned to the old material that we love so much ... no disagreement there at all. PA is here because or the appreciation and desire to keep all that "new and different" music alive, but is that supposed to mean that new music is not allowed or wanted because we're too busy looking for the same old Fords and Chevy's in the 60's?

But to have a love for music, also means new, and different, and my point is not that Camel is dead and gone, but that it would really help "progressive music" if we spent a bit more time on new things that further the idea, than the old things, whose comments do not add anything to the discussion.

As I've said a lot of times, I'm in it for the art. It has absolutely nothing to do with fame or fortune, like it does for so many folks here that seem to only listen to something if they are listed in some top 5 or 10 ... you don't see any comments from them anywhere else. That should suffice to show that it is very easy to think that they are not specially attuned to new and different music, otherwise you would see them commenting elsewhere.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

insulting and a bit patronizing, but hey, nothing new I guess.

It's like you read the thread title and came up with the worst possible opinion.

Nobody said new music should not be paid attention to, listened and enjoyed.
How is anyone or anything (or new music from old bands) stopping you from enjoying the music that you, well ...enjoy? Confused

How is expecting new music from Camel make people "not have an ear for new music"? Thumbs Down

Yet, the band has remained active as a live band and released several very highly regarded live videos/albums.

Do you think we will get to see another studio album from Camel?

You never know. The same window of time (roughly 20 years) existed between Blue Öyster Cult's Curse of the Hidden Mirror (2001) and The Symbol Remains (2020)! They have also remained active as a live unit ("on tour forever") and released some great live videos/albums.

I hope so. If it's as good as either Rajaz or A Nod and a Wink, it'll be worth waiting 18 years for.

I casually dropped in on http://camelproductions.com/ to see if there was any news from one of my favourite bands, and I noticed that they have announced a tour for 2023.

Could this perhaps be a sign that a new studio album is also in the works? It would be very interesting to hear what this line-up could come up with in the studio.

What do you think, is it probable?

That's right, Latimer was very seriously ill, and I thought at the time that he wouldn't make it, but miraculously he made a full recovery. This was now some years back already, and they've toured several times since then and recorded amazing live videos.

Wow, that sounds promising! Big smile
