Chances are there's not that much to discuss... everybody knows he's not a good singer in terms of singing skills; but most who like Camel would agree that he largely uses his voices in tasteful ways that work there. His voice is certainly characteristic and fits that kind of music.

Upon a quick research on wikipedia, it seems that Latimer, Ferguson and Bardens share more or less equal credit for the vocals on the classic non-instrumental Camel records. I see no fault in their vocals as they're a perfect fit for Camel's distinct sound.
Richard Sinclair is, no doubt, the best vocalist to have sung in the band, albeit the material that we have of him contributing his vocals to is noticeably weaker than the earlier Camel efforts. Hearing his interpretation of the anthemic 'Never Let Go' on 'A Live Record' is quite an experience and makes you wonder what a Sinclair-sung 'Lady Fantasy' would be like...

Indeed when I knew them... well, his singing has never particularly bothered me like some others (such as John Wetton), but I always thought it weak... however, after knowing some of those Camel albums well enough, I can't imagine them sounding better with some other, better, singer... it would just take away from it's ethereal nature, I think.

Camel have themselves said several times vocals are their least favorite, least important part of their music; so much so, they'd make the extra effort to bury them with effects in post, and make them blend in like another instrument.
This is exactly what was said in the reissued Moonmadness CD booklet IIRC! Anyway - I've never had an issue with his voice! A little weak on Mirage IMO, but it doesn't take away from the music at all. Never has for me.

I just checked to confirm that he was on 2 albums - "Rain Dances" and "Breathless".

I could be wrong but I think Richard Sinclair was only on one album though.

I think it suits Camel, but I enjoyed when Bardens also sang, and I think the bass player may have sung occasionally. I also liked when Chris Rainbow sang

His voice is definitely tolerable, but Richard Sinclair was in my opinion such a better singer. He fit the post-moonmadness Camel sound much better than Latimer did. HOWEVER, I loved when Latimer and Sinclair would both sing, creating an interesting dynamic. Metrognome, off of the Rain Dances album shows exactly what I mean (the studio version)

Someone mentioned Roine Stolt's voice but what about Andy Latimer? I've never thought he was the best singer but his voice suits Camel very well and his vocals never bothered me.
