I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

You need to download Powertab editor , the program that opens the files cause they're in .ptb format, not text or image files . Just go to their site and find the download option.

I have Windows xp, but when i download from ower tabs, it goes into a zip file...but it doesnt let me open it..it says to open it wiht internet explorer, but when i double click that it doesnt do anything..so i tried opening it with other stuff and it doesnt work

If you're on Windows XP, it'll do it for you. Otherwise you need some sort of decompression program. Examples:
 
7-Zip,
WinRAR,
WinZip

All these examples are aimed at Windows - if you're on another system you'll have to seek the advice of someone else.
