Topic: The Mission vs. The Cult Posted: October 03 2005 at 04:40 |
I never really considered The Cult to be goth. Like All About
Eve, they have links to the goth scene, which I suppose is why they are
often included. Even The Mission are a bit rockier than your
average goth band.
As to which of the two is the best, I'm not sure, they've both done
some good stuff. For what it's worth, my favourite goth band is
the South African band The Awakening.

The Mission were 'less bad' than the Cult, but I preferred All About Eve...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I think I'd have to go with Bauhaus, but as everyone else said, there are a lot of good ones.

Bauhaus and Sisters Of Mercy for me. But there are plenty of great goth bands on the 80's.

Been listening to the entire catalogue of The Mission in my car the last couple of weeks, and then felt an ache for The Cult ... I don't normally like to compare bands, but suddenly the similarities hit me like a ton of bricks
Wondered what you folks made of two bands that impressed me in the mid-late 80s ... I also rather suspect that fans of either band will be around my age (32) ... and I'm interested to see if they have older or younger fans ...
My vote goes to The Mission, even though it was a close-run thing ...

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."
