I’ve waited this long to say something (not that anyone gives a sh*t) but, to pit gold against gold, well, it’s impossible. Two of the best Genesis pieces ever.

Cinema.
Firth is a bit overdramatic and depressing. Honestly both songs overrated but still good
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Firth of Fifth, I guess... though both are part of Selling England's holy trinity, along with Dancing with the Moonlit Knight.

Piling on the Firth.  Of course Cinema Show is a close second.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I love both of them. But since I like guitars slightly better than keyboards, I went for FoF. It has one of the best guitar solos in the history of rock music. Only Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb ties with it.

Firth of Fifth is perhaps my favourite Genesis track so it gets my vote

Not only is Firth of Fifth better than The Cinema Show, it's the greatest single composition the band has ever done.

Yes, even better than Supper's Ready!

I love SEBTP as a whole but if I have to choose, then it's relatively easy for me. FoF is one of the finest progrock song ever written and it gets my vote. Fantastic piano intro with long instrumental part full of Hackett in the second half of the song make this composition almost perfect. Then it'd be DwtMK from SEBTP and third TCS (with or without Aisle of Plenty).

If were talking the originals from SEBTP, then Firth of Fifth gets my vote. Te piano intro and Hackett's lead guitar work wins out here.

Equals if we were voting on the Seconds Out live versions. Two of the greatest live performances ever recorded.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Cinema Show: the acoustic beginning (Gabriel and Hackett) is wonderful but then, when Banks take the control... To my ears, Cinema Show isn't a masterpiece just as Musical Box isn't.

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Firth of Fifth is perfection.

Cinema Show - I prefer the more bombastic live version from Seconds Out , the studio version just seems to 'die' before going into Aisle Of Plenty.
