All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Ekseption (Hit me like a freight train the first time I heard them, but in a good way. Not one bad song on the 'Trinity' album)
Genesis, of course. (Had 'The Colony of Slippermen' stuck in my head for nearly a month when I first heard it) Yes Jethro Tull (Consistently good) Gentle Giant (Like Tull, have been consistently strong, in my opinion anyway) Grateful Dead (Their non-Country material) ELP (I see a lot of people hate on them, and for what reason I really don't understand. Annoyingly theatrical or not, they were brilliant at their craft) King Crimson, of course. And others that come really, really close... Camel Anglagard PFM Kayak Finch BDMS Return to Forever Van der Graaf Generator

based on "Asturias", a composition by Isaac Albeniz: though
this composition sounds like it was written for the guitar it actually
was originally a composition for piano. Albeniz tried to imitate a
guitar though. I actually played it quite often. on the piano, that is. this is the piano version: Edited by BaldJean - June 19 2019 at 16:16 |

I got into The Doors in middle school after the guy next to me would record blank tapes of their albums, etc... Decades later, I'm still amazed. 1. The End 2. When The Musics Over 3. Waiting For The Sun 4. LA Woman 5. 5 to 1 Check out "Palace in the Canyon" - not the best quality on YouTube, but if you imagine it being studio-ized... man.

I still like them, I just overplayed them, and I don't feel the need to play them that much anymore. And yes, the End and When the Music's Over are awesome!
