I think that's because of their work with Adrian Belew, Brian Eno, and Robert Fripp, although imo those connections are tenuous and it doesn't really make sense for the Heads to be included on this site.

I'm very familiar with all of their music actually. Their sound on their more experimental tracks is very fresh and contemporary sounding.
But progressive rock is not a catch all term for all rock which is progressive (Sonic Youth was very forward thinking, were they not?). It's a tradition of rock music that began in the late-60s/early-70s, which journalists flatteringly called progressive because it was new at the time. But there were several derivative prog bands even then. Not that prog necessarily must be %100 retro. I think you'll find some of the most groundbreaking rock music being made today in "brutal prog." But it's clearly based in tropes of progressive rock. Pom Poko is not. Their experimentation is in the off-kilter and noisy guitar work, not the things that make prog prog. Hope that helps. Also, prog-related is dedicated to bands who had influence on prog or had prog ties themselves. To my knowledge, Pom Poko doesn't, although it wouldn't surprise me if they did have ties to Rune Grammafon or something.

What about art rock then? They have an experimental approach to their music, mixing different genres and testing boundaries. That's a progressive approach in my world (as in: progressive, opposed to conservative, stylistically pure, etc.). Another song: http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnyAC4HxXNE

Indie pop is selling it short, but they're not prog either imo. Some pretty great guitar work, though, and the drummer is great as well.

Thanks for your suggestion, but no for Crossover nor Related. It's simply indie pop.

I don't know if they have been suggested before, but this is a relatively new band from Trondheim, Norway. Not strictly prog rock, but they are being described as art rock among other things. Their allmusic article: http://https://www.allmusic.com/artist/pom-poko-mn0003784629/biography And here their debut single from 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
