PT for sure. Spock’s Beard is nice novelty prog with some solid material in the mix. But they ain’t Porcupine Tree.

Spock's Beard by a long way ! I'm not a PT fan at all and I'm not sure they are progressive (IMHO) but Spock's Beard have earned their stripes

The Beard and it's not even close. The music is more interesting and especially the vocals are far superior.

Very easy, PT ! Spock's Beard has not the level to compete with Porcupine Tree. Edited by PhideauxFan - January 25 2020 at 02:45 |

It has to be Porcupine Tree for me seeing as I'm listening to their Warszawa Live album right now.

If I remember right, all three men grow beard when they have hiatus in seventies (without knowing everybody´s doing that). But because Hill´s & Gibbons beard was so much greater, Frank decided to cut it away. Anyway I think he have had quite great moustaches.

I wonder if he ironically chose not to grow it on purpose

The mention of Spock's Beard (or Spock's Bread) has just reminded me that Frank Beard is ironically the only member of ZZ Top without a beard.

Don´t like either. If I had to choose, it would be PT.

SB is my favorite underdog artist, always struggling with day jobs but are no match for PT, I'm afraid.

Porcupine Tree have always been my favourite Neo-Prog band.
I'm just heading down to my local supermarket now to see if they have any Spock's bread. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - January 22 2020 at 10:22 |

I love early Porcupine Tree and really dig what came afterwards.
Up The Downstair, The Sky Moves Sideways, Metanoia, Voyage 34, Signify and the two live albums Spiral Circus and Coma Divine are the highlights for me. Just listened to quite a few of these whilst entertaining old friends that dropped by my apartment for New Year’s eve. Wonderful trip down memory lane. Back on page one I said both but I think I've shifted more to PT. Ironically, I'm listening to SB's Noise Floor right now. Haven't been able to grok that album yet although it sounds better on this listen.
Anyway, I've been digging into PTs earlier stuff and I love it. Signify is mostly very good. The Sky Moves Sideways is FANTASTIC! Coma Divine is pretty amazing as well. Up The Downstair looks very promising as well.

I've just seen it - Spock's Bread - unintentional humor is sometimes the best one.
