Some Steely Dan songs are ok, a few Magma songs not so.

Most definitely Magma. I never liked Steely Dan much and am really
surprised that a drummer like Steve Gadd ever teamed up with them. His
talents are in my opinion wasted in the band.

Steely Dan for me. I don't listen to either band that much but the general feeling of Dan's music is just lovely and warm. I can never tire of the lyrics either.

Ha! broke the 19-19 tie!
Granted, I've not see Steely Dan in concert, but the band doesn't stand out in any way for me. I don't listen to studio Magma much, but love watching them perform, both online and live. Their concert at the Psycho Las Vegas (2017) was one of the most AMAZING performance I've ever seen!

Magma for sure. I'm surprised that it's this close on Progarchives.

Not a huge fan of either, but De Futura > (Reelin in the Years + Rikki) so Magma gets my vote

I hear what you mean about Minnie Ripperton and Magma. A collaboration between her and the Magma-related Offering would have worked really well. They both have those soulful and jazzy qualities. |

Both. They should have done a collaboration album. Another good collaboration would be Magma and Minnie Ripperton. Her album 'Come to my garden' weirdly reminds me of Magma, like a software, feminine version.

Literally. Won't vote, about as far from comparable as two bands can be. Plus I don't feel confident in my Magma listening experience (translation: Steely Dan ...) |

Does this mean I don't have to start a ELP VS Steely Dan poll like I was going to?
