   One of my earliest Prog memories - I think it was 1975, right after Minstrel in the Gallery, I was 15, my big sister bought Aqualung because she played flute in band and I was completely obsessed with that album. The Midnight Special had a weekly feature called "A Salute to ___" and this week Jethro Tull was the feature. I've never seen it again since that night, I don't think they ever repeated it and it's not on any of the DVDs and it's not on YouTube. It was an interview with Ian, and he was dressed all in black, smoked two cigarettes in 5 minutes, wore a big cool looking watch, and they showed several live clips, one of them being Minstrel in the Gallery from the Paris show that is pretty well known now. Jeffrey was leaping all over the place in that striped suit and striped bass. He instantly became one of my heroes.

	Those are some lovely paintings. It's not easy painting in a realistic style while keeping it organic in feel. Great use of light and warm tones. Kind of like vintage prog!

	Thanks for posting this...JHH has always been one of my fave characters in 70's prog. I also take breaks from music occasionally to indulge in water-color landscapes...I love the photo-realism technique of his paintings...very nice

	Ever since Jeffrey left Jethro Tull to pursue painting instead of being one of the most enigmatic musicians and showmen on the planet I've wanted to see the art that lured him away. Being a painter/bass player myself (and I have no doubt about which one I'm better at) I've always felt a certain kinship with him. So occasionally I do a search, hoping to find a glimpse, but true to his legacy as a sort of odd reclusive misfit, he has done a real good job of keeping himself a secret. Jeffrey wasn't a musician (so he says), but he was part of some of the most incredible music ever created. He admits he wasn't really a great artist either, but he wanted to be. He got there!
