Deep purple for me,with Led Zeppelin close behind. Black Sabbath I have a touch and go relationship with. Like the primitive sound of their first album but it's the imagery the band took on after that which put's me off quite a lot.

Purple first, then close between the other two for the runner-up spot.

Zeppelin, followed by Sabbath, and distantly following up the rear, Purple.

Zeppelin were in their own world.
Always thought Purple, Sabbath, Heep were the holy trinity of heavy rock with a new world coming from Blue Oyster Cult.

Oh yes. What a downer getting that after (for me) the most epic and sublime pieces Sabbath wrote and wrought. Wheels Of Confusion. Ozzy does Elton John... What's worse, his or his daughter's version?

Zeppelin by a wide margin.....I gave up on Sabbath after I turned 20, after their 4 th album....and I never understood all the love for Purple....a hard rock band with a good guitarist who wrote mediocre songs.
Stat wise.....here at PA. Sabbath...5- 4 star albums (20 albums) Zep....3- 4 star albums (only 8 albums) Purple....2- 4 star albums (19 albums)

For creativity, sophistry, and... oh this counts, baby... live performances that made Floyd and Hendrix concerts look like real estate seminars, the big fat Z . Word.

Have I voted in this some time ago ?? Easily Sabbath - the only band from the 3 that I've hung on to all the vinyls....... Then Purple, then some select Zepp. Fallen 'out of love' with DP and LZ really.

Led Zeppelin > Black Sabbath > Deep Purple
Though all three have their merits. Zepp for the all-over-the-place experimentation, Sabbath for the sludge and Purple for the classical stuff.

You are probably right on all counts, I just prefer the tunes Sabbath put out. |
Same here, although I adore LZ and DP I don't care who's got the better drummer or bass player, Sabbath just connects with me on a more personal level.

I very rarely listen to the other two anymore and still listen to Zeppelin quite regularly.

Love all three bands but I'll go
Sabbath > Zep > Purple
Sabbath hold a special place in my heart, the monolithic sludge spoke to me on a very personal basis.
