They're Alternative Rock ... I like their first album. But Temple of the Dog is better. |

I can't comment on Mudvayne, but Audioslave aren't nu-metal. |

I liked the string quartet tribute to Mudvayne. A friend got me two Mudvayne albums (L.D. 50 and The End Of All Things To Come). I wasn't too thrilled at first (I only heard the songs they played on the radio), but some of their music was actually quite interesting. |

Mudvayne are not nu-metal ... not every band which uses downtuned guitars is nu-metal. But they're also not exactly brilliant. I'd say they're an alternative metal band with some nice ideas.

Sorry but thats what they strike me as also (mediocre nu-metal that is), i listened to two albums (have a friend who is a huge fan of them, he also loves linkin park and AFI ). I also saw them live on the Conan O'Brian show a while back. Maybe im just missing something, but to be positive they are better than all the other bands my buddy listens to!

Mediocre.. totally disagree, how can they
be an average band when absolutely no other band sounds like them?.. Not to
mention their ridiculously over-talented bassist... but there’s no point
arguing about music, everyone has an acquired taste. I would have preferred to
find someone who was actually interested in them, not shrugging them off as
'mediocre nu-metal'. |

Are we talking about the same Mudvayne? The band I'm familliar with (and yes I have heard their songs) is pure mediocre nu-metal. |

Better than most popular (at the time) nu-metal was. But then who isn't?

Mudvayne is a Peoria, Illinois, USA based alternative metal quartet started in 1996 which is strongly influnced by funk stylings and jazz
song structures. They have become relatively well known for their
previous incarnations which involved elaborate stage makeup and
pseudonyms. The band often showcases Ryan Martinie's jazzy bass
playing.
One of my top favourites, check them out if you can handle the 'screaming'. |
