It is comical that Plant plays so much Zeppelin in his touring sets then turns around and tells the press, 'Oh no. I've moved on from Zeppelin.' It's like walking out of your house drunk and saying I don't drink outdoors ever.

Seeing as the reference is bogus regarding Led Zeppelin, I believe the new album should be called ZoNo.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Heart has been covering Zeppelin since the Wilson sisters joined the band, and yes, they do it very well.  You can often hear the influence in their music.  I was surprised by how good the Black Crowes sounded with Jimmy Page.  For truly unique versions, listen to Dread Zeppelin - Reggaefied Zeppelin tunes sung by an Elvis impersonator, all of it well done.

I'd tend to agree about the Stones still sounding good only because they strictly play blues (blues-rock) and the older they get the grittier and rattier they sound, which is perfect.   That's why Keith Richards hears the Who and Zep as "hollow", and from his point of view, they are;
“[Moon] could play to [Townshend] like nobody else in the world. But if somebody threw him into a session with somebody else, it was a disaster. There’s nothing wrong with that; sometimes you’ve got that one paintbrush, and you rock it."

And though he shouldn't have said it and has probably gained legions of new enemies, he's right of course.  But people hear it out of context or misperceive him because they aren't working musicians.

Actually Page & Plant have come a very long way since the LiveAid disaster and other performance fumbles (a normal thing for them but had become exacerbated over the years due to lack of practice), and I give them huge points for going strong even today.

well sure guys heading toward 70 aren't going to sound like they did at 30---can't think of a band who does--some say the Stones sound good but they sound like a Las Vegas version of the Stones at this point--not that I'm a fan---I do like Zep however

didn't they do a one off performance in the past 5 or so years and the consensus was they sounded good.

Well you got me for a moment... But I doubt Plant voice suits this kind of music nowadays. It could just be sad.

Plant has said a million times "Hell NO" "NEVER" and "FORGET IT" to Page----so that is part of the joke too. It's never going to happen and has been that way for some time.

I'm pretty sure this joke has been done before.  It's recurring, I remember it from like five years ago

1)  They're way too old to "recreate" anything.  They were too old in 1979 to recreate anything.
2)  There is no new Led Zeppelin material or undeveloped recordings.  They put everything worth anything on the table, recorded it, and eventually released it.
3)  In the words of Neil Young, it's better to burn out than to fade away.
