What holds this back from being 'an absolute masterpiece' is its quiet recording. What was Hentschel thinking?

It is about old age and losing your beauty----it is poignant----and a sad song--and Hackett's guitar does cry

Masterpiece - from another classic album.
I don't find that lyrics too sweet on this one at all - I interpret the subject matter as growing old and is, to my ears, quite poignant: "That it's the last time you'll look like today"

There's nothing popish about that exquisite Hackett-Banks interplay---that is pure prog.

Poppish perhaps. Syrupy sweet and an album filler no. Instrumental in promoting the idea that Collins was the best possible choice to replace the Gabe-meister. And like someone hinted at earlier, Banks was great on it. Edited by Rednight - June 01 2015 at 23:26 |

It's nice, I guess, but nowhere near my favourite Genesis songs.

I'll go along with the masses on this one. A syrupy sweet popish song. No where near masterpiece level. Album filler IMHO.

Somewhere between option 2 and 3 for me. But i'll vote the 2nd, because as others have said the middle section is quite good.

My opinion falls closer to #3, but I agree; I've got half a dozen tracks on that album that I prefer. Not great, but certainly not bad either. |

A masterpiece. Bank's keyboard work is so understated yet nothing quite as climactic as that ever.

I'm with the flow of the poll. Somewhat of a sing-a-long, in'nent it. Great bridge, though.

Fantastic song but not a masterpiece. Probably top 30.

Awesome song - a masterpiece IMHO.
I also like Hackett's version from Genesis Revisited II. |

Welcome to the middle of the film.
