Hi - just joined a few hours ago. And was steered to this thread by Aussie-Bird-Brother (thanks!)

I first got into Canterbuy about 6 or so years ago... I was listening to Camel at the time almost continuously for about a year (there really isn't a dud in the entire discography, but I probably listen to Nude slightly less than the others) and started noticing some interesting things going on with Rain Dances and Breathless... and started wondering, "Who is this Richard Sinclair guy?"

Anyway, you can probably guess where that went! (slightly off-topic - but why is RSVP so insanely expensive?)

Love Caravan - everything I've heard anyway (which is probably everything from the 70s except Blind Dog and The New Symphonia - Front to Back shows promise too) - from there I ventured into Soft Machine territory (I like One/Three better than Two - esp Moon in June - have yet to check out much beyond that), got really into Steve Hillage, Egg;  Fish Rising, Space Shanty and Arzachel spent a solid year alternating in my car's CD player. I've checked out Matching Mole and Hatfield and the North but haven't spent enough time appreciating either group. I'm interested in In Cahoots, National Health and Gong. I want to check out some of Ayer's solo stuff. I recently purchased Phil Miller's "Split Second" after reading a few things on the forums.

Anyway - just wanted to drop in to say I really have and continue to appreciate the music of (and related to) the Canterbury scene Clap

I like my music as I like my beer: hoppy, complex and leaves you with a satasfying buzz.

I'm a big Ayers fan.  Sweet Deceiver's actually my favorite, followed by Doctor Dream.

This is the compilation that did it for me.  Such a wonderful intro.  It was the second Ayers I ever bought (Bananamour was the first, which was good but not great).  It's better than any of his individual albums, and is one of my desert island discs!  It benefits especially from having some key singles which didn't appear on albums.

Vol. 1 of the HC box set is very, very Canterbury.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Anyone here heard about the belgian band Pazop ?
Vocals can be annoying but the music is astonishing.

Andrea, I've never known which albums to start with for Kevin's solo ones, any recommendations you can suggest? :)

To answer my own question - it appears to be a Farfisa Compact Duo, but he heavily manipulates its sounds so it's totally unique.  Trivial for sure, but I like to know these things (must be OCD........)

He's self-taught and took a fairly unorthodox approach to drumming - but the result is marvelous indeed.  Approve
I got it !!  Cutler drums like Tinkerbell on meth LOL.  He is quite incredible - unorthodox music requires unorthodox behaviour Wink

Charming, charming album from Lindsay and Co.  I've often wondered if Sally Potter was the late, great Nic Potter's sister (whose name is Sally....??).

No, Michael, nothing ... nowhere. I'm gonna kill myself. The other album (SWF Sessions (1973) sounds terrific too.

Pierre, I heard that Tortilla Flat one a few years back and remember it being quite good! Might have to look into it, I'm pretty sure Greg Walker/Syn-phonic got either a CD or vinyl reissue of it in stock a while back? :)
