I fail to see much of a link between King Crimson and "twiddly dee stuff".

Funny how, although probably there are more Floyd fans, or Genesis fans... Crimson always seems to win these kind of polls

wow King crimson is winning!!!!
Love boths bands equally, but I think PF should win basically because King crimson isn't only Fripp the only member from the early days....and the band
had sooooo many members in the past ( and still do)
however Pink Floyd don't...

Pink Floyd has made 14 albums from '67-'94, and they've only had 5 people in their band throughout their entire career. King Crimson has 15 albums since '69 but has gone thru several major transformations as well as over a dozen different bandmates. My favorite PF album is Meddle, and my favorite Crimson album is Larks' Toungues. And if I had to choose between those two albums i'd go with Meddle.

I'll go with that, tho Crimson did knock out some mighty fine tunes too.

There are Starless Echoes here Both are primo stuff, OBVIOUSLY! Different moods though, non?

ELP definitely had their place in prog history but personally while a great band they never really broke the Nice/ELP mold. Their music was pretty much the same with very few attempts to expand. KC and PF both started out one way and, in Crimson's case, were able to survive many personnel and stylistic changes and still continue to amaze.

KC made songs like "Song Of The Gulls" and "Lark's tongue in aspic".
PF isn't up there with them in my opinion.
