Ahh well...guess I shouldn't be surprised. I really thought we could get at least one shocker in the top 5. |
I remember at the beginning, the leader of the whole thing was Lateralus. Wouldn't that be a shocker. Actually 2,3, and 4 were extremely close. One more vote could have dramatically shifted those.
|
Indeed it would have. I wouldn't have agreed but I would have liked to see a little shake up. I don't recall voting for either 2, 3...and I couldn't put Foxtrot any higher!
But it's cool to see it in its final form. Good work sir. |

Oh I'm sorry..wrong envelope That was for #1 album of all time to be made the joke result of an actual list of the top album of all time. I think I have the right one now: #1 Genesis - Selling England by the Pound (20 votes - 4521 points) Highest rating: #2 by Schizoid_Man77 The ultimate progressive music album Period! There is nothing this album doesn't have to offer. In fact its so progressive, non prog lovers don't even understand it! I own well over 50 prog albums (and I'm only fifteen), and I must say that if you want progressive music, you want selling england by the pound! Every song is a masterpiece portrait hanging in the gallery of Prog. From the commercially acceptable Dancing with the moonlit night and I know what I like, To the classic prog anthems of Firth of fifth and the cinema show. All the musicians are at their best, Tony has discovered synthesizers, Phil's drumming is tight, Steve's guitar work is at it's peak, and Gabriel's voice, lyrics, and even his Flute are at the top of his talents. If I were thrown in a deep pit with a stereo and an album of choice, I would choose Selling england by the Pound! (Schizoid_Man77) Often considered as their best release.Genesis was going through a new era here, but it still captured their unique sound featured on previous releases. The songwriting is as strong as on "Foxtrot" there's not much to dislike about this album, and it still stands as one of my favorite albums ever. Peter Gabriel's lyrics are excellently walking hand-in-hand with the adventurous music, which goes from playful and whimsical to epic and delicate without making the album sound unbalanced or failed. One of the most essential Progressive Rock albums. Highly recommended! (Bj-1 #6) This album is generally breathtakingly beautiful. The band members successfully integrate captivating musical themes that paint this image of beauty. Genesis show themselves to be masters of the art of songwriting on Selling England. Each track is masterfully crafted , as if each song was meant to be their lasting legacy, the one thing by which they are to be remembered. There is nothing but solid quality on this disk. Every prog fan, nay, music fan should own a copy of this album to have their collection be considered nearing completion. Essential (Moreitsythanyou #16)

I thought so as well, but I quite think it deserves to be there. You can't have only 70s albums (not including the 69 release of ITCOTCK)

Wow, I'm disappointed, Thick as a Brick and Wish You Were Here both failed to take the top spot. Lies, I say!
