New Cloudkicker albums out for '09.... sort of like a more ambient Meshuggah-inspired band...

Itīs a pretty good album but not perfect IMO. Youīll have to ask Stanislaw himself were to get it. I donīt have it anymore. He seemed happy about my interest in his music so he will probably be happy to hear from you too.

Hereīs my review if youīre interested: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=227879

Others that may have gone unnoticed:

Egoist;  excellent stuff in the shifting, proggy Meshuggah vein (although more interesting than Meshuggah to these ears)

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=85552

12-tone doom-death metal:  Ehnahre:

http://www.myspace.com/ehnahremetal

their latest album, "the man closing up" is phenomenal!

Hectic Patterns:

They played lots of songs from the first two albums at both concerts. I have a really great long sleeve from the Mosquito tour that I purchased at the show ( very worn and with holes but I still got it) with the moon smoking a pipe. Really great psychadelic picture. I also purchased the first Darkstar album at one of those shows. A unique band that deserves much more attention and praise.

agreed.  Lucky you with the concert experience and t-shirt!  Wish I could have seen them at least once.... I worship them!

more stuff:

Drottnar:  Technical black metal!  and I mean technical!  sort of like Extol's "Synergy" album

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=5252

Another band that should definitely be considered for the list on this site!

and this obscure covers download (completely legal) with tribute to Emperor, Ved Buens Ende and Arcturus)

No problem man;  I am glad somebody enjoys what I recommend!

Now Playing:  Psychotic Waltz:  Into The Everflow.... one of THE BEST prog metal albums of all time!

Here's another one for ya:

Le Grand Guignol  (they have a sort of Arcturus vibe)

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=107653

Another one in a similar vein:  Vulture Industries:

(the side project of this band "Black Hole Generator" is good too)

for another great avant garde black metal band:

(awesome stuff!  Kailash)

Maybe not! But when you dress like the KKK who met the chimney sweeper itīs hard not to find it a bit funny. I like bizarre humour. If this is not intented as humour I actually find it pretentious and art for arts sake. I generally donīt enjoy performance art. However dark and intriguing ( it often takes away from the fact that the music sucks). You might find it aesthetic experience to see them liveGeek. I doubt if I could hide a smileSmile. Taste is taste though and Iīm not saying itīs wrong. I just donīt enjoy it if thereīs no humerous intention behind such a scene. Much like I donīt enjoy a lot of black metal acts and their pretentious attitudes.

Yep saw the pictures on their myspace. Hilarious stuff. Really dark music though.

you may have a really dark sense of humor, I don't think any of it is intended as tongue-in-cheek...... It is part performance art really, setting an aesthetic mood and intensity.... It would be surreal to see them live.

Here is a little-known gem-of-a-band in the world of experimental/progressive brutal death metal:
Psychofagist;

http://www.myspace.com/psychofagist

I love them.  They have taken the extremes of dissonance, insanity and experimentation and followed them to a terminus.  These guys blow away Ulcerate imo and should be considered for the extreme/tech list on here!
