Women? WHERE?! *fumbles through belongings in search of lost engagement ring* ...  I've often said to myself, "the first reasonably sane and decent women I meet, who enjoys prog, I'm going to ask her to merry me" Silly... I know. I've hung to this silly dream for years now... Getting moreso on the right path, I think it's not so much that they are now enjoying prog, I think it's that they finally learned to use a computer....  *raise resilient shield of +2 flame resist* I'm only kidding women, welcome!  (P.S. I am not sexist... ) |

My sister got into prog when she grew bored of ABBA. She was 11.
And this thread should be about why women actually do like prog, not why they don’t. And it’s obviously for the same reasons no matter if you’re male or female. Good prog appeals both to the brain and the heart and it doesn’t bore the sh*t out of you after a week.

My wife has once been to a Yes gig, something even I never did. She had to leave though as her laughter at what was going on received too much ugly faces from happy bystanders

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Men's brains are more technical and women's brains are more emotional. Men (usually) like more technical music and women prefer outbursts of emotion. Prog doesn't do that. It builds and builds and can also be atmospheric. Its funny, though. The most emotional music are the big climaxes of prog epics, and maybe thats what women like, but many don't have the patience to listen for it. But that doesn't mean that women can't like prog. My mom heard me listening to Tarkus and said that it was actually "nice sounding."
