Leeches being aggressive charity muggers or actual blood sucking leeches..??
Well, actual blood sucking leeches are aggressive charity muggers in some ways, aren't they ??  Yes, the relatives of the segmented worm order.  Damn things, couldn't even feel them.  They are in the trees and on the ground here (as well as in the water).  Never encountered them before.  I won't be going back to that place (Kondalilla Falls) unless in a full body suit.

Thanks guys, I learned something new today....had never heard about aggressive, paid "charity muggers"LOL reading up on it apparently some are pretty good at guilting people into giving up personal info, which is then sold to other organizations....

(the list goes on) Even if you tell them to go f*ck themselves, they just radiate smug serenity and say awesome/cool/catch ya later mate.  To paraphrase Malcolm Tucker, I'd like to punch them into paralysis....Of course some of the causes are worthy I admit, but this is NOT the way to garner either attention or reduce apathy Angry

Most of these self righteous little oinks are currently in tertiary education and will graduate overnight into future captains of industry who will attempt to recycle dead kittens into catfood and bring in the death penalty for pedestrianism.
In London I believe these apparently selfless creatures are called chuggers, and many of them (ie some made-up statistic I can't be bothered to search for) are paid by the number of people they sign-up. Altruism it is not. My daughter is regularly accosted by them even when sporting her best face-like-thunder-don't-even-think-about-it--does-it-look-like-I'm-having-a-good-effin-day-so-gfy countenance.
Wow, I guess Mpls St Paul isn't so bad then.  Here you just get people shaking you down for money.  LOL

I am much more likely (in fact almost always do) to give money to anyone collecting in the old fasioned way of rattling a bucket.  I will not have anything to do with anyone with a clip board collecting bank details.  If I want to set up a direct debit I will do my own research without someone hanging over me.
Help me I'm falling!

I can't remember the last time I've encountered a stapler that works consistently well.
I have. After years of fighting with staplers that jam or fold the staples in on themselves (you know, when they end up looking like a squished letter "w") and generally fail to staple together more than 4 sheets of paper without mangling the staple and the corner of the page, or worse still, just puncture vampyre tooth-marks in the corner of half the pages while the remainder are untouched (and thus unattached), I have finally found one that works - and even works on documents that are more than 10 pages.

Unfortunately it's the weekend so I can't tell you the make and model number.

Aaah, most folks know Phil Collins & Genesis - little are they aware that Peter Gabriel was the original vocalist.  And as soon as you show 'em some pics of Gabriel Slipperman, or Brittania, or Hogweed, they instantly assume Pete is a drug fiend............like I say, people are ignorant and narrow-minded.  I'd be more weary of the 'clean cut' looking folks that bash women and take crack............

^And these ones are in Music shops! I just resort to saying I like esoteric music and if they look interested then give them some names!

It is awkward being asked what music you like. Blank faces when you say Dream Theater or even Porcupine Tree  and a host of other bands.

I guess the thing is that they don't know what it's about.  How do you respond to names like Caravan, Nektar, Ozric Tentacles, Van Der Graaf Generator, Spock's Beard - to name the more 'mainstream' bands when you're clueless on what they do.  Don't even bother mentioning Magma, Camel, Yezda Urfa.............just tell 'em it sounds like Pink Floyd and you get the  "oh, must be cool then " - everybody knows the Floyd LOL

So this is the rant-room - I hate being constantly judged when I rattle off names of bands I'm into............some folks are so narrow-minded it's not funny.......

^ Interesting, as I've heard several prompt their victim (a chugee?) for bank details to facilitate the old direct debit done deal high five commission result gotcha patter
