For the next poll, I asked The Anders if he wants to open it, as he actively participated in the last one,
but if he can't, it could be Suitkees' first poll. |

(Repost from the thread: IP-Change of Seasons) As much as I would like to, I can't manage to comment on all the suggestions and as it turns out I'm not the only one. It might make sense to slightly adapt the concept of the IP's by limiting it to one proposal per person? This would possibly bring a little more dynamism into the game. People could comment on the suggestions as soon as they are posted. Besides we wouldn't run out of material so quickly. - Btw, is there a possiblity for a little promo in other threads? I second Nicky, too. For me personally a main issue is that in this year, despite Covid not being fully over, many things resume, and I have a lot of travelling, hosting, preparations to do, as everyone (including myself as somebody who has lots of friends and family in different countries from where I live) tries to make up for two years of not meeting in person. This is very nice in many respects but also costs a lot of time and energy. During lockdown times everyone had more time at home of course. I'm trying to keep on participating but for sure the time I have for this is no longer the same, and I don't see this changing back for some time. Maybe 2023 will be more "normal" again... or Covid strikes again...

I second everything Nickie said. And add my I'm now at an airport, hoping to get back home, and then in a couple of days I will dive into our festival. Hope to re-emerge the week after... Maybe this week-end I'll find time to listen to the current poll suggestions. Edited by suitkees - April 29 2022 at 08:58 |

So happy to hear that you are almost completely recovered, Lorenzo!
These polls have been such a refreshing change from the usual polls here. The interaction and discussion is what has always been the draw for me. And that people love the music they bring, that was a thoughtful twist, rather than look up songs on the internet to suit the theme. I've found more than a few new artists from all genres and some have really broadened my scope in areas that I'd not much pursued. Also, the practice of doing the mini-reviews of the music gave me lots of practice for some work I am doing now. The unexpected gift within the polls was getting to know so many people here so much better, through our mutual love of music, within the progressive oeuvre or not. So thank you Lorenzo, for so many hours of enjoyment over the what? Two years? That these polls have been running.

How are you?
Lately we have all been a bit distracted by something else, I am about to finish a long convalescence and go back to work, Nickie has left us (hopefully for a little while) and we all miss her, Christian and Kees are busy, The Anders is producing his own music... It's a moment of tiredness for the Interactive polls, but we hope to return to listen and comment on our suggestions to each other.

I, too, don’t think your first suggestion is at all the same thing as “guilty pleasures”. If it were not for the changing of seasons, I think that is what I would have gone for. But I do very much like the Seasons idea. I look forward to seeing what you choose.

I know, I don't believe in the whole "guilty pleasures" idea either. But I have been shamed for the music I listen to, or at least some have tried. I would like to see what people enjoy from otherwise style of music they do not normally go to. For example, I can't stand most glam metal these days, but I do listen to some Dokken, classic Motley Crue or some Great White. I also love Cinderella. I dislike most alternative metal/nu metal, but i do love Deftones. And so on... |

All these are fine. I don't think the first one is like guilty pleasures. "Guilty pleasures" is a cultural trope, and if I declare something "guilty pleasure", it doesn't mean I feel guilty about it (seriously, who feels guilty about liking some music?), rather that I suspect that this kind of thing is frowned upon by some, maybe even in some kind of half ironical manner. Your proposal number one is really very different and could be interesting.

I like the Seasons one. It seems appropriate for this time of year, where much of the world is going through a (sometimes dramatic) change of seasons.

Here are some ideas I was talking about earlier, some are good, others not so much
- songs we love from artists/genres we generally dislike (but this is kind of like guilty pleasures which we already had an IP) - songs about seasons or song tiles with names of seasons in them - songs with names of animals in their title - great songs from debut albums/releases - great songs from a band's new line-up/line-up change/change of style/sound Edited by Cristi - April 19 2022 at 01:51 |

I'll try and think of a theme, I have some ideas. Give me a few hours, if I don't post the poll this evening, I'll post it tomorrow morning. I will also be away for a few days, but I think you'll manage once the poll is set up.

@Lorenzo: Don't count on me before mid May. I'm in the midst of preparations of a festival (which will take place early May) and will be a week in Budapest in the mean time. After that, things will get back to calmer waters for me, I hope... But I will jump in regularly. Oh, Easter... Really? Where are my eggs? BTW: Isn't it Nick's turn instead of Nickie's? He might be a bit more available at the moment...!? Edited by suitkees - April 15 2022 at 13:01 |

^ Ain't the list too long already? But yes, you can add my name to the list (but not yet for these coming weeks...), before you all think that I'm a coward not daring to adventure myself in putting up an IA-poll. Which is very much true, of course, but I'll try not to show it and find some courage in the mean-time (and maybe an idea...).
