My rant for the day (and the rest of this week) is concerning...COMIC RELIEF (aka RED NOSE DAY)Our televisiions get taken over by unfunny comedians, making unfunny jokes, all for charity. Then there's the "special" series of all ready appalling programs, such as Fame Academy. Why!It was fine before when it was just one day a year, but it seems it's entrails are lasting for a whole 2 weeks!I have the same issues with Children in Need also.Of course, I realise it's all for charity and for good causes, but is it completely necessary for everyone to make a complete t**t of themselves? You can raise money for such charities and keep everything in check. It should require one day in a year for people to give money to charity, they should do it all the time.Am I being too harsh? If I see Russell Brand on the television over this period, I may have to throw a brick at the television. That stupid Little Britian advert is not funny, neither is the Vicar of Dibley one, argh!*and breathe out and relax*Phew, I feel better now.

No, it's not just you. Comic Relief drives me up the wall! I've no problem with the cause, just the procession of back slapping, self congratulating comedians, cracking, as you say 'unfunny jokes' Friday night is my stay in night. The TV is often good on a Friday, but the drivel-e-thon that is Comic Relief, screws up my evening no end.
..and before anyone has a go at me for being mean about a charity event blah blah.. etc..I always make a contribution, usually through events that we are often emotionally blackmailed into taking part in at work.
..oh yes, of course, then there's the news reader making a cock of his or herself, doing something side splitting, that one would not normally expect someone like Bill Turnbull, John Snow or Natasha Kerplunky to be doing. Maybe they're going to shag a horse, with a big red nose on it, or perhaps sit in a bath full of worms, beans and cat sh*t, while we all phone in with our credit card details.
... ... and it usually means Grumpy Old Men wont be on.. |
It's today chaps - all take a deep breath & get those rants ready.
Personally, the first person in a large red wig & dressed as an artichoke to wave a bucket at me saying "it's for chaaaarrrrriiiittttyyyyyyy"... gets a kick in the face!

I think I'm right in saying that young Dude (or as I like to call him, "Geoff, you're a perverted young man, step away from that wallaby") is actually the first ever member of this illustrious forum.
And he's a Grey!

Ah brilliant! He's got Russell Brand's hair though... Who's going to pledge money to see Kerplunky do a strip-tease then? I prefer Julia Bradbury myself.

On the subject of Pete Douchbaggery, why is he not in jail for 20 years? Hasn't he been arrested for coke, heroin, and crappy music use at least 10 times? Nice judicial system you've got in England; in a few years, you might even catch up to up in terms of idiocy.

Incidentally - it may be an idea to change the subject - back in the early days of this thread, one of my posts regarding a certain "singer" who shall remain nameless (Pete Docherty) was edited from afar, as I got a little carried away, & included speculation and hearsay. I can see this subject going much further, as I suspect we both have the same opinions of Mr Brand. |
No, I love him. I want to be like him and it tears me apart each day, that I will be never be like him..
Ok, thats my last word on the matter..subject change called for!
Why do sporting events take precedence over all other TV scheduling?? Last weeks episode of 'Life on Mars' was rescheduled to make way for a vitally important FA cup clash between Reading and Man U. I was most annoyed..
But happy now, because it's on tonight!
