Quote The act, effective April 21, 2000, applies to the online collection of personal information by persons or entities under U.S. jurisdiction from children under 13 years of age. It details what a website operator must include in a privacy policy, when and how to seek verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, and what responsibilities an operator has to protect children's privacy and safety online including restrictions on the marketing to those under 13. While children under 13 can legally give out personal information with their parents' permission, many websites altogether disallow underage children from using their services due to the amount of paperwork involved

...we are a .com website - technically under current US measures that means we fall under U.S. jurisdiction. We have no provision, means or inclination of obtaining parent's permission for any user under the age of 13, therefore our terms and conditions state you must be over the age of 13 to join our site.

There is currently an underage member on this site (probably more, but one that I'm sure of) and we didn't throw the book at him. If this kind of double standard persists, I'll be leaving for friendlier shores...

I say, as long as these underage members aren't causing troubles, let them in! Just warn them privately about broadcastiing their age. What we're really supposed to do is promote and encourage discussion about Progressive Rock.

Besides, how much maturing will he really be doing in the some four months it takes for him to reach forums age?
It's a legal thing. there's a law against people under 13 regestering on sites
I thought you said that you were 12 as well...?

Ah c'mon cut him some slack! He likes prog for crying out loud. Would you rather he be like the rest of his generation and listen to Bieber?

He's the future man don't discourage him!

Edit: Looks like he's been suspended for being underage. Way to go. If he's smart, he'll get another account and change his birthday, or head over to progressiveears.com where things are more friendly...

I sent him a private message about being discreet about it. And no one reads those things. I thought everyone knew that

Dude. FLAPJACK is way better than Ed Edd and Eddy.

I would go so far as to say that Flapjack is one of the best cartoons ever. The pun episode should have won awards.
