So far...
- TAAL
- ANGLAGARD
- OZRIC TENTACLES
- SAMLA MAMMAS MANA
- GURU GURU
To name a few, Taal & Samla Mammas Manna being my favorites at the moment.
Excelent musicians..
Also listening to more modern bands such as Dream Theater, The Mars
Volta, Porcupine Tree and Spock's Beard and quite like what I've heard.

Yup, join the club ...
Ultimately if I had to pick just one it would be PFM ...
but there are many (half of them Italian) including LDF, Corte Dei Miracoli, Metamorfosi, Area and a few others ... also
Canadian groups Harmonium and Pollen
UK's Refugee, Comus and Khan
Chile's Los Jaivos
... I'd better stop

Steve Hillage (really a unique sound that grabbed me from the first sample I heard).
Also:
Brand X
Mahavishnu Orchestra
I really developed a taste for Jazz/Fusion on this site.
Thanks ProgArchives!

I go to this site through a link from an Israeli Prog Rock site which is very good as well. Through it I discovered many bands at first.
I have discovered quite alot of bands here (in addition to what I already know), and many have turned out to be among what you call favorites. Among them are A silver Mt. Zion, Agnus, Alamaailman Vasarat, Alphataurus, Baclay James Harvest, Bubu, Cai, Citizen Cain, Eloy, Explosions In The Sky, Finch, Finisterre, Glass Hammer, Gong, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, IQ, Maldoror, Malibran, Mia, Mogwai, Nektar, Nuova Era, Ozric Tentacles, Paatos, Phish, Quella Vecchia Locanda, Samla Mammas Manna, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Syzygy, Taal... I got tired , but there are more.

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Before I came to the site the only thing I knew about prog was that Opeth was prog metal and that I liked them Then I went crazy and downloaded everything I could find on this site, which was a lot more than just prog metal...so if I listed all of the great bands that I've found on here it would take up a couple pages. My favs, KC VdGG Echolyn Camel Gentle Giant Anekdoten The Mars Volta SGM etc. etc. etc.
