When you've already got friends the concept does appear to be a little redundant. Confused

Dean, I hit your car, sorry... I should have said. EmbarrassedOuch

One mustn't joke though, these things happen all the time.  The one that annoys me the most is when thugs decide to key your car for no reason whatsoever.  Luckily it's never happened to me, but people have jumped on my car roof and dented it.  I don't know why they choose my car either... oh well.

Sorry to hear that Dean. It's happened to my latest car twice and I've only had it since January. It is really annoying.

Went to the supermarket this morning. When I got back to the car I discovered some fCensoredckwit had dented the door very badly and driven off Cry. I've only had the car six months and this is the second time it's happened, so needless to say I was a little upset. Ranting abuse in the carpark at anyone in shouting distance did little to alleviate my anger, neither did leaving a trail of smoldering rubber behind me as I left, nor did ripping down the bypass at 110mphEmbarrassed.

Listening to some nice cool relaxing Israeli prog has calmed me conciderably, but I know the red mist will descend again when I go out to my car to re-assess the damage.

What pCensoredsses me off is the inherrant dishonesty in the British public, I have no doubts that this was a simple accident, probably done by the passenger of the car next to me, but they drove away knowing they had done it (the dent is deep and the paint-work chipped down to bare metal). Is their no-claims bonus that important to them that they cannot do the decent thing and own-up? Are they that selfish that they can cause damage without any guilt? Would they just shrug and go C'est la Vie if it happened to them? No - they left with a clear conscience because they knew they would fCensoreding get away with it...

The FCensoreding BCensoredst*rds!!!! AngryAngryAngry

I hope that all the ill-will in the world descends upon their miserable existence, I bid them nothing but misfortune for the rest of their natural lives and a pox on them and their offspring for all eternity - the Karma Police are watching...

Accidents happen - I know this, I'm a grown-up, I once reversed into a parked car and smashed their rear-light glass - I left a note and paid for the repair. It's not a question of decency or a guilty conscience - it was just the right thing to do. I don't rate myself as being a highly moral or honest person but it appears that by modern standards I am. Unhappy

Hmm...

Not a major rant really, but I had to 'phone up to receive a parcel the other day, because I wasn't in when they tried to deliver it.  I 'phoned them up and all I got was a silly automated response... press button 1 for this, press button 2 for this... so I do that.  Then I have to say my parcel number into the 'phone... which I wasn't ready for, so it tried to put me through to a real human.  I waited a short while, got fed up and so I tried again... this time the number I said was recognised and the quickest they could deliver it was on the Friday, but between 9 and 5... well I stay at my girlfriend's house on Thursday evenings and don't get back 'til after 9... (I could have left earlier, or not gone to see her, but no, I wasn't doing that!).  When I got home about 9:40 on the Friday, my tickets (that was what the parcel was), was on the kitchen worktop.  Luckily, my mother just caught them delivering it at dead-on 9!  She came back to get something, so I was lucky!

Why can't they just employ humans who I can arrange a specific time for delivery with?  Any time in the afternoon would have been fine too.

Oh well, at least I got them fine.

I just hate automated 'phones!

Whilst we're ranting about British Gas...
we had a "premium" (ha ha) service contract with them at our old house. Our boiler broke down once in winter with snow on the ground. An engineer came soon enough, said it needed a new part and would be back on Saturday. You can see what's coming here, can't you?
Yes, you've guessed it, nobody turned up. I rang to find out what the Censored was going on, to be told they couldn't get the part. Of course, nobody could be arsed to phone and tell me this. I opened my Yellow Pages, phoned the first supplier I found and of course they had the part in stock, but this cut no ice with dear old BG. It wasn't until I told them that my wife was pregnant and I had an 18 month old baby as well (which was true) that I got any action out of them. Meanwhile we had to freeze round a small electric fire for the best part of the week.
Needless to say, I've never had a contract with them again. Now I use a local company and get a much better service.

British Gas!

On Monday morning I discovered that my boiler - less than three years old - had sprung a slow leak (water) from somewhere. This £3000 boiler was installed by BG back in 2004. I called BG and an engineer turned up within the hour! Brilliant, and I'm on a service agreement with them so there was no call out charge. The engineer tightend something then b*ggered off 20 mins later. No worries into work I go. I get home and the bloody thing is leaking again. I call BG, and have to take the next day off waiting for another engineer, who turns up at 1:30pm and after 2.5 hours tightens something and once again, b*ggers off.

Looks ok. Checked this morning, leaking again. They wont come out tomorrow, I'm got meetinmgs all day today, apart from now obviuosly, so I have to wait until Monday.

My problem? Whilst complaing that this will be the third call out, and I'm having to use up days of my annual leave entitlement, the harpy on the other end of the phone is trying to sell me more BG products!! I pointed out that I would be reluctant to buy anything else from BG whilist I remian 'unconfident' about their ability to fix, what look like minor problems, but she persisted 'Mr Robinson, if you upgrade to..blah blah..' so I said 'Are you able to understand my position on this at all? Can you see why I may not want to buy new products at this time' In a cheery voice she responded 'Thankyou for calling British Gas. An engineer will be with you on Monday as requested'

I would be less stressed about this, if this was not my third boiler in 8 years. They are not cheap!

Rant, rant, grumble moan...

Sh!t! Late for meeting...

£3000 for a boiler??? Are you sure Andy?

You want a rant? You really want a proper one? Then you've come to the right place...

As some of you may know, I am about to complete a PhD in Comparative Literature. Though I spent about €13,000 in three years in tuition fees, as I am a government official and I am not entitled to a scholarship (and the university is not dependent from the state), in the almost ten months I've been writing my dissertation I have received NO feedback whatsoever from the woman whom I was given as a supervisor. The main reason is, she doesn't know sweet F-all about the subject, and she hopes to LEARN from what I'm writing! Angry

As if that wasn't enough, I don't have a deadline - I've heard somewhere that the work must be ready by December, which as you all know has 31 days, and happens to include a few holidays as well. Asking around will be of no avail, because the word at that University seems to be, "we don't know, the rector must decide". I have no idea of the standards they want me to follow as to the work's format, and I am quite sure they'll give us about two weeks in which to do everything. To say I'm furious it's an understatement... Luckily I've already written over 200 pages, so I should have no problems in completing my work by December.

I'll have to rant about the houses being torn down right now behind the house/office where I work in Chamblee, Georgia to make way for more expensive clusterfunk houses!  We're already severly in danger of running out of water around here.  The overdevelopment has got to stop!AngryCensored

And, oh yes, people who give something a .5 star in their rating and round down in complete disregard for mathematical rules really get my panties in a wad!Angry

OK folks....first the good news... I have a new computer!!!  and this is my first official PA post since its installation about an hour ago....!!

My old PC was 7 years old, so this thing (an ACER L100, apparently) is light years ahead by comparison....Big%20smile

OK...so here's the rant.... the Censored courier 'service' City-Link are so inept that calling them so would actually be doing a disservice to people who are genuinely inept...Stern%20Smile

this computer should have been here last Friday... but 'Darrin' didn't ring the door bell. neither did he push the electric door to.... even though lights were on all over the building.  He simply left a card.  Irate, I rang their 'control' (now, there's a laugh) centre in Cardiff, who informed me the earliest they could get it to me would be Tuesday... Tuesday came and went, and it was still in the warehouse in Gloucester ... and so it was on Wednesday, by which time I asked to speak to someone in charge.

for the first time, an apology was forthcoming, and I was told that a driver would be bringing it over between 6 and 9pm... needless to say, they didn't arrive.

On Thursday, I really started shouting, as I was told that it had left the depot and had been signed for on the premises.  I was told to go and talk to my neighbours.  Half an hour later, I was phoned back to say that it had been retutrned to the depot, as the driver had called round, but no-one was in.

No-one in!!!!!!! I run a bloody Youth Hostel, with customers coming and bloody going through the front door every 5 minutes...lights on all over the building...what do you mean no-body bloody in you daft Welsh bint!!!  I was sat by the front door, waiting for it for 3 hours!!

Finally, the driver shows up on Thursday at 8.30pm.  He had been told to do a 120 mile round trip especially to deliver my computer...because no-one had called the previous evening...he had admitted they'd lied to save face, and the company he worked for were indeed...a large pile of...Censored
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

^^^

When we had a new boiler installed a few years back,we had to wait for a Corgi registered engineer to check and sign it off as the British Gas engineer wasn't registered. It took the best part of a fortnight from installation,Corgi approval and British Gas to return to turn it on.

Aye, that was a tad tepid.

Reduce the tepidity and you may pull from obscurity, a devilishly superb rant of epic proportions.

You know you want to!
