The whole discography of Steven Wilson is overrated.
Future prosperity lies in the way you heal the world with love

^ Gotcha.

On the topic: I believe I didn't make my list of top ten overrated ones. That's 'cause I ain't got one. No such thing as an overrated song here on PA.

In my dictionary: Overrated: Why do all this idiots love this trash if I believe it's crap?

These two statements are kind of hard to discern from each other. I believe by 'trash' you do not mean an album that has something other people see but you don't.

You don't get my point LOL

I believe that the term Overrated is arrogant and shouldn't be used to define art.

I hate LTiA, but I will never believe it's trash, simply I think most people find something in that album that I am not able to find.

BTW: I never use the word trash to describe an album (that would be offensive to the people that like it), and never use the word overrated (at least in several years).

The word overrated is overrated.

I hate Larks Tongues in Aspic, but this doesn't mean it's overrated, if so many Progheads believe it's a masterpiece, it must have something that I haven't been able to find.

In my dictionary:

Overrated: Why do all this idiots love this trash if I believe it's crap?
Underrated: Why do all this idiots don't like  this marvelous song if I believe it's a masterpiece?

That's why I hate the term overrated and don't like too much the term underrated

Iván

Albums:

Genesis: Wind & Wuthering
King Crimson: Red
Van Der Graaf Generator: Pawn Hearts
Robert Wyatt: Rock Bottom
Jethro Tull: Aqualung
Steve Hackett: Spectral Mornings
Neal Morse: Sola Scriptura
Bands:
Pink Floyd
Porcupine Tree
The Mars Volta
O Terco
Emerson Lake and Palmer
Phideaux

I would like to say I do find Genesis, VDGG, Jethro Tull, Steve Hackett, and Neal Morse to be some of my favorites, overall. Just not those albums.

I can wholeheartedly agree with a number of albums and bands you listed, but also have to strongly disagree with some.

The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway – Agree, I love early Genesis but the Lamb just does not get me excited.

Also call myself a big Tull fan but Aqualung I rate as one of their weaker albums. It kind of bores me.

King Crimson: Red – totally overated!!!

Porcupine Tree & Mars Volta: Couldn’t agree more!

Van Der Graaf Generator: Pawn Hearts – This is a masterpiece, actually underated!

Pink Floyd: not all they did was great but all in all they deserve their place in music history!

Phideaux to me can do nothing wrong. II love all there albums. Can listen to them anytime, in any mood. They always put me in an exhaled mood!
With Pawn Hearts, PF, and Phideaux, spacey psychedelic stuff just doesn't do it for me, and the avant garde tendencies of Pawn Hearts is just too much for me, but I can see how others would enjoy them. Also I'm glad someone agrees with me on Red, The Lamb, and Porcupine Tree.

Yup Smile . I think its second half is Banks, Rutherford, and Collins' 2nd finest hour (1st being The Cinema Show), particularly near the end.

Genesis - The Lamia

Rush - The Entire 1st side of Moving Pictures.
King Crimson - Starless
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (album)
    - Wish You Were Here (album)
           - Animals (album)
    - The Wall (album)
VDGG - Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (This song is very overrated, it's not musically interesting it's just long)

Surprisingly i disagree with most of these.

The Genesis songs listed are great - The Cinema Show being apart of the superior side of Selling England.

Moving Pictures is really great, but Permanent Waves executes accessibilty mixed with prog much more sucessful. Pertaining to the Side 1 section - Limelight and YYZ are absolute Rush classics.

Starless is not overrated. In the Court of the Crimson King is though. I think people take it's influence into the rating of the album too heavily.

Pink Floyd's The Wall is the main culprite of being overrated. Dark Side of the Moon is good - but heh.

Plauge of Lighthouse Keepers is amazing.

Thick as a Brick sucks. And i completly agree with you - it's really boring.

"Comfortably Numb"

Not so much overrated, but overplayed (on radio). I'd be ok if I never heard that song again.

I'm not the biggest ELP fan myself, but not even Karn Evil 9! Shocked In my opinion, the song is a masterpiece.

Yeah.. I love all the songs on that list! I sort of agree about the Can song, though. They have much better ones.

That's right. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, even though it's been said, like, a gazillion times before, no matter what anyone says about your POV.
