The album is excellent, I would rate it ****. Unfortunately it got a nasty * rating from Debrewguy (I agree with his written review but the choice for the rating is unfair, I think it could actually be reported). Since he's Collab it'll take quite some reviews until the balance is set.

I let the review stew for a bit, so that my opinion of the music would be what determined my rating. The rest added to the frustration with the album's quality, but did not play a part in it getting a 1 from me. The album's review did serve as a perfect avenue to write of what I believe limits prog bands' record sales - lack of digital distribution (progressive music not being progressive technologically ? ) , generally higher prices (even compared to other comparable bands or genres), and limited outlets for purchasing (again, even when compared to similar sized acts or genres) .
As an aside, there are one or two Marillion albums that I bought as digital downloads from their website that would merit a rating of 1. But the overall consistency of the group's releases that I have bought this way, combined with the much better accessibility & price , have made these 2 albums simply stand out as bad apples in a bunch. Indeed, if I may offer a comparison - 1 execrable Indukti album (Idmen) costs me as much as 2 uninteresting Marillion albums & one good one. Which keeps me open to buying more Marillion (yes, the dreaded H era) albums as they come out. Or to extend the point, for the same amount that I spent on Susar, I also have 3 excellent H era Marillion albums (one being a double album). Or - for the price of the two Indukti albums, I was able to purchase three CDs at Frank's Music of other bands (one as a special order ) that I like. And have a little money left over. Therefore supporting my favourite musical acts, AND my local independant music retailer. I won't mention Inside Out.
