Hey hey, back again. Erik its fine by me although for the drinks part a few beers or wine wouldn't hurt (maybe I'm pushing it too much)
Prog-chick, your Symforce sig looks well, and great! And of course something can happen Friday night, after all thats what I'm hoping for, some wild party all through and through (even if the majority of people which I will meet in person there are WAY older than me and already have more responsability in their lifes) hope all of them can work something out in that friday night, (and not only stay at home drinking a beer and watching a football match) Ideas anyone? |

Welcome John! Good to hear from the source of all
I understand what you are saying with respect to the line up, the approach is fine with me. As for the future - if this is a success, it may get easier every year. Look at where Dutch and Belgian festivals like Pinkpop, Lowlands and Werchter started. Not that we should expect any prog festival to become that big, but on a smaller scale it is possible.
I think that was me, but you got the date wrong by a month. I mentioned I was not able to visit a festival in Brussels on October 15th because of my sons birthday. He already likes Blackmore's Night though, and his personal favourite track is É Festa by PFM - probably because of the beating riff. Anyway - we'll all be there on the 15th, if you keep an eye on our clothing plans for the day, you might be able to find us there. Thanks for making this happen, and for dropping in! hi everyone, nice to see there's so much activity going on regarding the Symforce festival and where to meet. It has taken me a while before I enlisted myself as it is impossible to be a member of a zillion forums all at once. However I feel PA being pretty active which is exactly what I like Symforce to become : a buzzing activity !
someone wrote it is too 'neo-prog' for him. Not really sure if this person knows all of the bands on offer as I feel there's only one neo-prog band on the bill and that's Pendragon. It is mainly Symfo hence the Symforce name.
I'm not sure whether the 'all on one day' formula is a good one. We simply need big names to attract a wide and varied audience although I knew from the beginning that real progheads would mainly concentrate on the small venue and the batcave as that's where the interesting concerts are. I went to see Isopoda rehearse last thursday and it's great to hear those "Acrostichon" and "Taking root" tracks come to life again
apart from the concerts themselves I know there will be some surprises which will only take place at Symforce. Also there will be several specialist CD-dealers and every single artist will have his own merchandise area
it is my sincere hope that Symforce can grow into a yearly event allowing us to invite many prog giants from past, present and even future. Erik mentioned bands like Le Orme, well let me tell you that I have been negotiating with both PFM and Delirium for this year's edition. The first was way too expensive and although there are five people in the band they wanted to come with ten ! Also they only wanted to come by plane which in the end comes to a gigantic sum of money. Delirium was possible from a financial point of view yet not known enough for a first edition. I'm sure you'll all agree that you can put together a fantastic line-up with very small, virtually unknown bands, who will give the best they can. However these bands do not attract a huge crowd. That's why a festival should be a mixture of bigger names and upcoming talent. If we want Symforce to be there for many more years then that's the only way to do it. I'm sure we have a great line-up together this year and at a little over three euro's per band it's pretty economical as well.
I wish all of you a great Symforce festival and please give me feedback as much as possible so we can keep it in mind for next year's edition. As for the person whose son's 4th birthday it is on september 15th : why not arrange a birthday party at the 013 ? Bring the family and we'll supply the music ! You can't start young enough !
and please spread the word about Symforce to family and friends so that it's a huge success
Bobo

That sig looks great Prog-chick, are you that flashy too ?
My proposal on the Symforce Festival After Party on September 16th is that I buy food and drinks (ideas are welcome) and that we share the supermarket bill, OK? Seats can be hired for the fair amount of 1 euro pro hour (Chesterfield armchairs 2 euro pro half an hour), that's a deal fellow Symforcers?

This is going nowhere....
@Sean: you'll survive the 15th (did you get a ticket through someone?) - most of the gargling noises come from 'above the rivers'; I'll be able to translate that into Flemish for you (or French, if these guys get drunk enough to keep it really simple ). After all, I was born and raised in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (they call us 'spare Belgians') Edited by Angelo - August 18 2007 at 15:51 |

tsk tsk tsk ........ misinterpretation....... the reason she is "wondering what clothes to wear" at the last minute is because she has been far too busy until then to give it a thought....... whilst Eric has got his jeans and his "I love Ringo" t-shirt on and knew without a doubt that is what he would wear a month previous, she has been feeding the kids, looking after the house, finding & washing the t-shirt HE wants to wear, clearing up the cat sick, getting that weird stain out of the carpet near the lamp, changing the bulb in the security light, filling out the school bus paperwork...... etc etc etc etc............so there they are at the 11th hour and she gets a moment to her self, and barely the energy to find something to wear.......THEN she has to ASK him to even be told that she looks good...... take a tip boys...... tell her she looks wonderful BEFORE she asks, and if you do wait to be asked don't feel so darned smug that you didn't make a joke that you feel compelled to write a song about how clever you are! men.......... so clever......so stoooopid........... See ya's in Spetember x |

You can ay that again!!! I often hide the fact I speak Dutch/Flemish and speak English instead, just to make sure I understand the answer coming back tome!! Thisis especially so in Holland where thye second haff of the worddisappears in a gargling noises that you expect to seetheem spittle a piece of their lung as they speak!!!
I think I'm a dead man on Sept,15
PC, if you can believe that some Dutch and Flemish TV reportages in Dutch , some locals are being systematically subtitled in Dutch! In some cases, even internally between themselves, some Flemish people are not sure to undertsand each other.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

Men are more practically than women, they make a decision
what to wear and "that's it" but women ..... just listen to:
Wonderful Tonightby Eric ClaptonIt's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear. We go to a party and everyone turns to see I feel wonderful because I see It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head, So this goes on and on from now until September 15th

The cloggies are famous for their mastery of foreign languages. They have to, 'cus their own lingo is so full of unpronounceable gargling noises that most non-cloggies are scared off even trying to master it. Edited by emdiar - August 18 2007 at 08:41 |

Hi PC. The joke was "No Smoking". In Dutch, a "Smoking" is a tuxido, hence the sudden references to what we're going to wear. We're not really the fashion victims we appear to be!

Prog guys are very ladylike, P-C. As for how do you know? - That's easy: I always wear either Nijntje or that Rush long sleeves to concerts and festivals. |
