Don't know where you get those start from, but there should be more 5 stars!  Road Of Bones 4 stars?  Never......
I thought I was being generous by giving 5-star ratings to four IQ albums, when I'm more often criticised for overrating albums. When I give an album  a 4-star rating, it still means I'd go out and buy it, given half the chance. Smile

How many times have you listened to each album?  IQ need to be listened to a lot to be fully appreciated.
I've listened to all of IQ's albums once only and I  probably won't have time to listen to them again until I buy their albums on CD - if I can find any record stores left open. Confused
No wonder you get criticised - one listen is not enough to rate music like IQ.
Okay, I'll have a listen to IQ's first album again now and choose a favourite song from the Lush Attic to post here later. Smile

You'll be lucky at the moment, in fact you'll be lucky to find a store selling IQ albums anywhere. I did find Dark Matter in a shop once but that's all. You'll have to buy online.

HarshOuch  First IQ album I owned, loved it then and still adore it now!  Didn't know about PN until Subby came out and I saw it advertised in The Independent!  Who's this new vocalist?  He sounded awful, until I "got" the album many many listens and a few years laterBig smile Then went backwards and forwards....

Have long been one of my favourite bands since I heard them in session on the Friday Rock Show and then purchased The Wake as a result. There was just an impressive rawness about their music, lead by the equally impressive Peter Nicholls. Can't tell you how gutted I was to discover he had left the band in the mid eighties and then Nomzamo came out. Didn't need that commercial AOR like I didn't need Rabies. I completely missed out on Ever not realising that Nicholls was back in (this was pre internet you know) but luckily stumbled on the Subterranea album in a record shop. I played that to death on headphones then eventually got a bit bored of it but not before seeing them at The Astoria for their last complete performance of the album. Latterly I believe that Resistance is one of the best albums they've ever done. The recent DVD release of their pre COVID German gig from last year is a joy. They reached their very best at that point so what next I wonder? Plenty left in the tank hopefully.

I do like IQ and Dark Matter is still my favourite of theirs. I need to give their recent releases more of a listen.

I have massive respect for IQ ever since I discovered their stuff. 'Twas kind of hard getting into most of the albums but it's quite rewarding and enjoyable in the 'end'.

'Dark Matter' and 'Frequency' are my 2 favorite IQ lp's....for me that was their best work even though many seem to prefer the last 2....and I think the earlier lp's like 'Ever' and '7th House' are very good also....but missing some 'hooks' for me.
'Road  of Bones' and 'Resistance' are both very good but also don't touch me like those  earlier ones.  It might be I need to play them more..because I have played 'Matter' and 'Frequency' quite a lot.

The Road of Bones, one of my favorite albums of all time. Shame that I felt Resistance was a major miss, the entire second disc just goes in one ear and out the other for me sadly.

Tales from the Lush Attic is so good IMHO that IQ to this day has yet to top that. I think it's their best album.

Are You Sitting Comfortably? Then I'll begin with some Tales from the Lush Attic. IQ were first in the queue when it came to choosing a band for my first Neo Prog marathon.
