I had to change the description on my Prog Brtiannia channel just so I could include Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout.  I've always been a fan of those two bands, even though they're not remotely proggy. In fact, Prefab Sprout are more froggy than proggy, if their "King of Rock & Roll" video is anything to go by, which goes something like this.... "Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque." I'll refrain from posting the video again as I already posted it on the previous page of this thread for Cristi.  Smile

wait... what? What do I have to do with anything here? Confused
You questioned earlier whether U2 should be on my prog channel which is a fair point, and I mentioned that I used to have a grand total of two subscribers, but I lost one of those two subscribers when I added Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout to my prog channel,  which is hardly surprising. Tongue

It's your choice to  have non-prrog in your Prog-Britannia thread, I disagree with a lot of things posted here, I did not say much, except for U2 which I thought was ridiculous to be mentioned here. That's all.
To be fair though, adding U2 to my prog channel is probably not as ridiculous as adding Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout. At least with U2, I had the excuse that I was running out of prog bands beginning with the letter "U".   Tongue

By the way, I was a bit delayed with adding Jim Capaldi, Dave Mason & Steve Winwood to my prog channel as they all got held up in Traffic. Tongue

^ I agree. Anthony Phillips has never made a bad album, whichever Sides you look at it from, and I've had a Field Day listening to his entire back catalogue of "Ant Music". Smile

I know I'm probably Wise After the Event, but you just reminded me to add Kevin Ayers to my prog channel too. Thumbs Up

Hi,

Anthony Phillips is by far one of the great talents and folks I have ever had the chance to listen to. And he was gracious enough to allow me the use of his music on an edition of the "Ygdrasil Journal of Poetic Arts" edition that had me reading a poem over a piece he wrote. That issue was the only one that was an AUDIO issue of the material and featured a lot of different things, including a band from the Boston area (have to look now!) that also did poetry stuff over music, and it was neat. I think their band name was "Firemask", and I am trying to find/get a copy of that issue so I can clean it up and redo it again. It was special! It was done in 1999, sadly it was done on the Real Audio code for which I had the license to use for broadcasting (25 feeds) and sadly, over the years, this issue has disappeared, and not heard. To hear many of us from the group read their own material and live through it was special ... and something that no other poetry monthly has done since that I am aware of.

To hear your own words being read somewhere else, or in a sort of performance feel in this issue, was something that many of us hoped for and could enjoy ... and it was special, though I think, like everything else, it was buried in nowhere land for nobody. But I still thank AP for having given me permission to use a piece of his music. The graciousness and understanding of it all, was almost too much for me and I cried that he allowed me to do this,  just like Kevin Ayers 20 years earlier had given me permission to use a piece of his music for a film I did.

Two artists that I respect a lot, and appreciate like there is no other, just about!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

You posted ratings for U2 in your PROG Britannia thread.
I guess the others ignore what you post here, but U2! It's ridiculous. If you don't see it, I don't know what to say...
Maybe that's why my latest prog channel only has two subscribers, and I lost one of those subscribers when I added Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout, which probably won't surprise you at all. Tongue

well, there you go... LOL
