Both actually. I really like them, and I only had some Beatles compilations in my collection, but traded them in because I was planning to get the Stereo Box Set, at some point. But now you and Moorglader have persuaded me to get the Mono Box Set, with Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road and Let It Be (remastered) on the side. Thanks both!
Well good! You won't be disappointed.Cool

By the way, I was surprised to find out that in the Mono box set, both Rubber Soul and Help contain the stereo mixes as well (bonus tracks on the mono mix CDs).  Not sure why, but consider them a bonus.

I don't have the box set, but I have Please Please Me, With The Beatles, Rubber Soul, Revolver and Pepper in mono and they are superb. Far more life and punch in them. A lot of the recent stereo remasters were atrocious. The vocal/instrument separations were awful, especially on headphones. strawberry Fields Forever is an act of vandalism. The White Album and Abbey Road are good, as are Help and Rubber Soul (stereo) as they were done by George Martin a couple of years previously but not released until 2009.

I don't have the stereo box set; but I do have all the stereo mixes as previously released on CD individually.  The mono mixes just sound a lot more alive to me, especially on the real early albums.  The "fake stereo" effect on albums like Revolver always annoyed me a bit -- having the guitar in one speaker and the drums in another just sounded a little dumb.  And the package itself is outstanding.  It costs a lot of money, though, so I'd only recommend it if you either have very little to no Beatles already, or you're a confirmed Beatles nut like me.

I agree, it's simply just more experimental than other works, it's orchestral, ambient, electronic and poppy all at the same time. It's a lot to take in but it's by no means a disappointment that some critics here call it. It's actually slowly creeping its way to my favorite Sigur Ros album. Thumbs Up

This has got to be heard in Mono as originally intended and as Lennon always recommended. It sounds so much better!
