For our purpose a monument is not a building. Taj Mahal is an exception.
Not in China

Yeah, and Taj Mahal might even be the answer. If it’s not: Is it in China?
And I forgot the most famous Finnish person ever: Vompatti!

I worded that badly, I meant that Pentti Saarikoski is the most famous poet of Finland. But I guess you are right about Mika Häkkinen being the most famous person overall, Sibelius might be a bit bigger.
I'm not 100% sure about a monuments definition. But I'd put my money on that Taj Majal is a building and a monument at the same time.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m quite sure that Mika Häkkinen is more famous, at least outside Finland. And Snowy said it was a building, which probably means it’s not a monument (it could be both, though).

Sure, I will join in. Gullberg is one of the better Swedish poets. I'm actually finnish, but I have lived in Sweden my entire life. So my favorite poet is Pentti Saarikoski (propably Finlands most well-known name). And if we're speaking about Swedish poetry and litterature, I'd say that Hjalmar Söderberg is one of the best writers in the whole world.
Is it a monument?

OK, what about a poem by Hjalmar Gullberg?
FYI: I’m Norwegian though I live in Greece.

Fair enough, I guess that it's true. Even if we progers love to make stuff way too complicated I suppose we need to draw a line somewhere.
Your idea was really good on the other hand. Just as a note, I don't really like Stringberg (if that information is of any value =p).

We could give it a try but I’m afraid it would make it too complicated. Should we also include ideologies, religions, scientific disciplines etc.? Another question is whether we should include things that aren’t really unique, like Gutenberg’s Bible, a play by Strindberg (yeah, I noticed that you’re Swedish), a famous piece of music etc. So far we have only chosen unique physical objects.
