Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Selling England, Wind & Wuthering, Foxtrot can all compete with that overrated and overhyped album

King Crimson, by a landslide. I almost fell asleep to Foxtrot and Selling England by the Pound. King Crimson also has a longer record of consistently good releases.

Mmm... not sure, but I guess if you made a poll between "In the Court" and either Foxtrot, Selling England, and perhaps even The Lamb, any of those Genesis albums would win. However, in this case, I guess I would vote for the King Crimson album, for every Genesis album I know has some song that kind of ruins the greatness of the album as a whole (and as a matter of fact, I don't really like The Lamb so much at all). Granted, "In the Court" has Moonchild, but I actually like the "song" part very much, though the ambient part is far too long, but in the end it doesn't ruin the album the same way "Battle of Epping Forest" ruins Selling England for me. |

If bad albums/songs mean negative score, King Crimson wins
If only the sum of the good stuff counts and a song can't be worse than 0 points, Genesis wins. I voted according to the first principle.

Same issue for me as the other thread. Can anything by Genesis compare to In The Court? nope.

Two of my favorite bands. I love them both, but Genesis.

Both band has some highs, and some lows, but for me King Crimson has the more highs and the less lows.

Back in the '80s I kind of pigeonholed Genesis as Phil Collins's pop-rock band who occasionally amused with witty lyrics and had a history of making rather OTT abstruse stuff in the past. The Purveyors of Fine
