I don't think that's the biggest problem with this thread, actually.

I'm 28 and this thread makes me feel old. Always thought I was on the younger end of the prog appreciation spectrum. Good to see there is some new blood appreciating good music though!

I can't stand progressive metal, In my opinion it's way too cheesy and sounds close to a failing power metal band. 70's prog is just way more alluring to me :)

I too think many prog metal acts sound cheesy and even dated. It's exactly how I feel.

17 here
I honestly can't stand prog metal, the closest I get to it I suppose would be Red or Larks' Tongue in Aspic
I'm more into late 60's stuff and the Canterbury scene

Yes, at the risk of sounding like one of those incessant YouTube commenters, I am 13 & I'm a huge fan of Progressive, but I think Progressive metal makes me want to cut my wrists. King Crimson is probably my favorite band ever (save The Beatles), I've always been a huge fan of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Genesis can do no wrong, Yes are OK, I'm liking them more and more, Gentle Giant are just awesome. I don't really consider Pink Floyd prog, but I do love them. Focus I have loved since I was 9, Frank Zappa is just indescribable, U.K. make my spine tingle (I might have a hand in there home-coming gig in Newcastle), Refugee are great. If you count them, Mahavishnu Orchestra are a favorite of mine, view them as a Jazz Fusion group, but I suppose they are Prog-esque, same goes for Allan Holdsworth. There are probably others, but these are the ones I can think of at the minute. But I listen to more music other than Prog. My school "mates" tend to mock me for my love of Prog, they also tend to be iratating, dislikable gobsh*tes who listen to stuff that generally appeals to those who have miguided teenage views & a lack of real respect and understanding for how music actually works.

My son is 5 years old and is a great fan of Unitopia. In particular "Tesla" from Artificial album.
Do you think I should bring him to the doctor ? Or we should go together for a familial therapy ...

Why be a prematurely aged raisin when you can be a grape? A point well made but your cynicism smacks of substituting one form of elitism for another (Schadenfreude innit?)

Wow, your reasoning would be anormal reasoning for pre-school children. Are you older than 5 years old?

Why would it be more fun to post 18+ things in a progressive rock forum? Do you want to match porno and progressive rock or what? It ain't going to solve the maturity problem of some persons on this forum because some people on this forum are still acting like babies even if they are years older than 18. But if we do so it would probably destroy the metal related sub-genres! |
Just imagine two girls going at it to some 1972-era King Crimson improv! |
I can't imagine that, I'm younger than 18! |
So am I, but I can imagine it.
