Jaja, don't give up hope. The few that shout tend to overpower the many that lovingly whisper.

Well said Jaja , you're needed at the U.N. .
As for the question - For me Yes/Genesis/Floyd. The best of Yes does more for me than the best of the rest.

I am new in the Forum and I'm a little bit scared with all this WAR !!!
The 3 bands are super as ELP, Camel, Renaissance, Jethro Tull (whom I'm listening a bootleg now).
The important is that all of us love GOOD music, apart of our favourites bands.
Peace , love and Prog Rock for everyone.
Best Greetings

It's no big war, just a wee argument. I think we all like to argue here. I'm out to listen to The Lamb!

I'd say Tony Banks is a strong contender for best Keyboardist, and Hackett ranks best for Guitar. All the guitarists have a very distinct sound though, I especially noticed Gilmour in :The division Bell", as for lyricist, it's clearly Gabriel, and Waters second, with Anderson way below. I would rate the bands in the same order for vocals. The weakest bassist is Waters no doubt, and Obviously Yes ranks at the top there, but Rutherford is very underrated, he ranks among my favorite bassists, despite most peoples opinions of him.
Steve Howe looks like an Elf from Rivendell, or at least he used to. Now he looks like some crazy monster that can frighten small children.

HI TUXON, I agree with you in a few items and disagree in the rest of them. Totally agree on Squire's superiority as a bass player, and also the supreme greatness of such grandiose compositions as "Close to the Edge" and "The gates of Delirium".
But I think that the best lyricist involved in this poll is Peter Gabriel, and the best guitarist is in Genesis, too - Hackett. As fur the drummer's seat, no one among the ones invovled in this poll has dignified it as much as Bruford, even in his formative years!! The best keyboardists have played in Yes: Wakeman and Moraz. As for the voclaist department, I give the gold medal to the mystical Anderson and the silver medal shared by the romantic Gabriel and the rocky Gilmour.
Regards to Tuxon and all my ProgArchives fellows.

Oh, I voted for YES , because I considered a "mental rating" of their best works. I thinck that Fragile, CTTE and Relayer surpass even the best Genesis and PF recordings. But of course, all of them have done some only good recordings, others so-so, and some lousy albums and songs, too. I didn't go for the elements (guitarists, drummers, lyricis, vocalists...) but for the works themselves.
Regards.
