^ I guess that this is a particular list that is post-psychedelic but proto-prog.

Another list would be possible but not my focus at the moment. 

Feel free to sign up on RYM and make your own though :)

Looks like the suggestion spickett is drying up here!

Keep em coming if you can think of any more.

What about another list females in psych and prote? Too large?

Great idea but a friend of mine has made a similar list and i even though i think he could do a more thoroughly job of it, i don't want to step on his toes in any way. There are a lot of similar lists on RYM for different styles of music but there was one missing for an all-encoming progressive rock list :)

Ok, thanx! Yes, there are lots to add in that list, for example Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and Holding Company, the United States of America, Os Mutantes, Fairport Convention...

^ now that i'm listening to the actually album, i would agree with you. Very interesting and very different but i think your suggestion of RIO/avant is probably the closest thing unless it would fit under the eclectic tag. I'll definately add it the list on my end and call it eclectic prog / classical crossover :)

there are some extremely experimental tracks on that album. I think they would perfectly fit into RIO / Avant

B is for Bang is an interesting project but i would call it crossover classical more than prog rock myself. I'll check her out with John McLaughlin

most of the tracks float into each other. unfortunately I had to download the tracks one by one and connect them with a software. due to this there is an annoying little pause between any two tracks, even if they would float into each other; try to ignore it.

In what category do you think B For Bang would fit? Those are experimental covers of a band listed in Proto-Prog, but I wouldn't see it as right for the site based on that. If it was covers of a Prog band, then the album would be acceptable in the Various Artists: Tributes category, I would say.

Katia Labeque, famous classical pianist, who made an album of Beatles classics with her band B for Bang. here 3 videos of that band:







for some reason this band is still not in the archives, though Friede and I suggested it long ago.

she also made albums with John McLaughlin

and she recorded the album "Shape of my Heart" with guest musicians like Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Sting

Well, there's one that I know of, Norwegian avante-garde metallers Ram-Zet, with several women involved, both in the instruments and vocals departments. Don't have fully detailed list, but I'll look into that in the not too distant future.

Also missing is Norwegian heavy proggers Gåte:
- Gunnhild Sundli / vocals
- Katrin Frøder / backing vocals (2017 - present)
