If I may be as bold as to suggest....pop in to Clarks...their shoes are comfy, practical and above all they last an incredibly long time! If you went and bought 2 pairs, even if you wore one pair all the time, between them they should last you about 4 years...leaving you time and money to think about your CD collection...

I dont know what the OC is, I'm a man I dont watch it!  Seriously, it's a sh!t American soap opera which focuses on the lives of physically beautiful but intensely hatefull and stupid young men and women in some predictable sunny seaside resort, probably in California. It's web of shallow relationships, surfing, and bitchy cat fights....I think...My ex used to watch it, but I wouldn't let her watch it in the living room because I thought it would be bad for our pet cats intellectual development!!

Men can be guilty of the phone thing sometimes, to be fair. I'm very curt on the phone 'Hello, yes, ok see you then, bye' etc, but I have one male friend who will phone me in the evening - after having seen me at work  - and talk nonesense on the phone for a good 45 minutes when I'm trying to watch macho programs about war on the TV

That's strange, it was women who got me into Opeth, it was women who got me into Yes, and it was women who got me into Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

Where I live, there's more women who love prog than men (I'm probably the only guy in our school who gets into it, and the only guy who knows about King Crimson).

I agree about suggesting to every progheads to read Rocking The Classics! It's really an essential text and my favourite book to quote on forums.

Whether women are smarter than men or not, whether they are more intellectual or emotional are questions, to which answers he haven't yet found (I doubt If we ever find one). It is fragment of more complex issue, even philosophical one. For instance, nowadays in USA we witness the hot argument, whether women are naturally non-mathematicians and whether they even want to exercise sports. I think this is the question of difference between genders. We know that difference exists (small, but beatiful, which makes sexual coupling so enjoyable), but we can't define it, pointing the single quality, that's definitely female or male. You can always find example evidence to the contrary. Experience shows us, that women don't like maths, but I bet that every male on this forum knows a girl, who actually is pretty smart in that area, even better than him at solving equations.

About Steve Hogarth's issue: We shall remember, that bulk of Fish - period material was about Derek's problem with relationship and it was quite mysogynic (Script For A Jester's Tear, The Web, the whole Fugazi, large parts of Misplaced Childhood). So you would not expect many girls listening to that stuff. Since Fish departure Marillion have not extended their audience, so there are mainly male fans left. But of course I might be wrong.

On the other hand, it was Fish who wrote their only real hits "Kayleigh" and "Lavender" - the latter actually best love song with simple tune and lyrics ever written IMHO. And I also think that although many consider H to be better singer than Fish, having softer, more "emotional" voice, it is clear that H wasn't able to write such beatiful emotional hits as songs mentioned above. Perhaps this is the solution. H is not as sincere when singing love songs as Fish, the nervous rocker, and perhaps women feel it and not attend softer, more danceable version of Marillion's gigs.
